Fun means of transportation

Its a diesel engine driven train between Mariana and Ouro Preto, 40 or 60 (panoramic view vagon) R$ per peron. If you do this trip after having done the Sierra Verde Express from Curitiba to Morretes you will be bored. Not much to see

The train ride is pleasant enough but more could be done to make it better such as written guides. The cost for the hour long trip is reasonable and a nice alternative to the local bus. The historical area of Mariana is quite nice but much more limited that nearby Ouro Preto.

I was a little disappointed because the "Maria Fumaça" steam engine is out of service and has been replaced by a diesel engine.

If you are in Ouro Preto/Mariana during the weekend (fri-sun) and... More

Take your time for this trip. Best way to visit Mariana from Ouro Preto! Don't miss the waterfalls. The train goes through a deep valley as if it were a river!
