A few years ago this was a State Secretary of Minas Gerais State. Now it is a very nice museum with a very good exhibition of paintings and sculptors. Right now, they are showing one-man exhibition of Jean Michel Basquiat. Do not miss it.

After spending hours walking through the central market, Praca da Liberdade, churches, etc. we were happy to come upon the Banco Do Brasil Cultural Center with its lovely restaurant and cafe and spotless rest rooms.

A good (hidden) cafe/restaurant in the central courtyard which is useful given the lack of places on Praça da Liberdade. The events and exhibitions (so far) have been good. Music events on wednesday and thursday nights (R$10).

This is one of four Cultutal Centers in Brazil founded by the Bank of Brazil and focuses on art and theatre and some local history. The building in Belo Horizone was architecturally interesting and worthy of a visit just for the building which stands out in the rather plain and mundane more modern buildings around.

One of the great old buildings of the local historic complex, CCBBB hold temporary exhibitions, so the cultural display is highly variable, but this free experience is worth a visit even if just for the building.

Besides the exhibitions, usually great, the building itself is very interesting too. It has a kind of "hole", an open space in its middle, where large art pieces are placed.

theater and exhibitions on site. Right in the center, beautiful for people who enjoy architecture and art exhibitions, it has a coffe shop inside, great for talking in a beautiful place.

Now a museum, this is a beautiful building with lovely parquet floors and many architectural details worth a look. The modern exhibit was interested and fun. Nice cafe and good gift shop.

Right on the Praca da Liberdade, this art gallery is well worth visiting, if only for hearty laughs. It's free to visit, although you still need to get a ticket to enter and the exhibits are as ludicrous as any modern art you'll find anywhere. As of August 2017, the lobby has a wonderful installation called "man who swallowed the world" which is genius. Upstairs you'll find interactive "art" that will either impress you or make you howl with laughter. There's also a courtyard with giant installations. Well worth seeing.

One of the best places if you like exhibits. The place is an old building (for Belo Horizonte standards) and its architectural style has been preserved with minor changes to accommodate 'modern lifestyle'. You would feel immerse in early 20th century Belo Horizonte and, depending on the day you visit, may see great art exhibits. They have a type of tour guide, that is free, but does not take place everyday. The café there has good snacks and drinks.
