A nice place to visit in Belo Horizonte. Is is very secure, with police men. There is many museums and cultural centers around the park of Praca da Liberdade.

This is a large square, located in an urban area in Belo Horizonte. This square is famous for its location: in front of the Governor's Palace. It's a very beautiful square with lots of trees and flowers and a nice cobblestone street in the middle of it. There are lots of people who jog here in the mornings and in the evenings, when it's hot. Eventually music festivals and shows are organized outdoors, usually free, which guarantees a great crowd in weekend mornings. If you are nearby, pay this place a visit. It's really adorable to sit and watch life around you. There are no food stores or beverage stores in the square but there are some in the surrounding area, like Xodó, a traditional sandwich's place close to the square.

It is a beautiful square with lakes, gazebo, a beautiful architecture around. There are government buildings, the governor´s palace, and museums right there. The main city library is across the street. The locals use it a walking track, so if you like going for a walking or running you are in the right place.
There are a few places to eat like the Xodó, that is delicious (try the beirute sandwich). There is also the Quizno´s and the local sandwich cart right on the square.
I recommend it. Just below you will see the place where one has to choose what kind of visit is that, so I will mark one, but it really is for everyone.

The municipality of Belo Horizonte puts up holiday lighting every year that really lights the Praca up, both literally and figuratively. It's gorgeous bordering on magical. And, as such, crowds pack the place every night in December just marveling at the colors, the designs, the variety and the intensity of the seemingly hundreds of thousands if not proverbially millions of twinkling lights. The light show continues down Avenida Cristovao Colombo, with trees running down the middle of the boulevard wrapped in endless strings of red lights. Beautiful visuals in a city that may lack sun-drenched beaches or December snow, but more than makes up for it with as pretty a municipal holiday light show as you'll find anywhere this (or that...) side of Rockefeller Center or Times Square. Lush, sumptuous and fully capturing the holiday spirit.

Praca da Liberdade or Liberty Square is in the center of Belo Horizonte and faces the Government Palace. In recent years the old administrative buildings around the square have been transformed in museums and cultural centers. Besides being really interesting, they are mostly free of entrance fees. In the weekends, there are fairs on the square and it is really easy to spend a whole day in the museusms and the praça without feeling the hours passing by.

Liberty square or better knowing as praca da liberdade it's one of the postcard of belo Horizonte it's a place where you can find concerts in the middle of the square for free, also around there has several museums with no fees to entry. So you can know better about the story of Minas Gerais. Few meters of Savassi square too where everything's happens during in the day and at night liberty square is also a place for a jogging or just sit down and chili with your friends drink a cold beer. Worth to see this place.

Ciao a tutti, io dovrò fare un tirocinio A Belo Horizonte di tre mesi presso il consolato italiano. Sono un po' preoccupato riguardo alla criminalità in Brasile, potete darmi qualche informazione su Belo Horizonte? Grazie a tutti
BH is just like Rome regarding crime. (Yes, I got robbed in Rome). Lots of pick pocketers.Do not wear gold chains/necklaces because it’s like a magnet for petty thieves. Be aware of that and you will be fine.
