It was amazing, we got a guide in our own church. He approached us subtly and let us feel good. We closed for 100,00 but with the drawer it was 120,00. We know the two churches, olodum, pelourinho and elevator lacerda (which is under construction). The guide's name is Jorge. They usually have the crachá on their neck. It was very worth it, pq he told the whole story, stayed with us for 2 - 3 hours.

Like almost everything else in Salvador on Feb. 26th, this beautiful little church was closed as people rested from Carnaval. I did love the exterior and wished that I could have seen inside. I understand that this was built as an annex to the nearby Sao Francisco Church and Convent.

The "Igreja da Ordem Terceira de São Francisco" dates from the 18th century and was built as an annex to neighboring "Igreja e Convento de São Francisco". It is considered a jewel of sacred art, with a magnificent plateresque style façade, carved from limestone and sandstone elements. Take your time and enjoy the visit. Check the beautiful ceilings, the fantastic old Portuguese tiles and the rooms designed as "Sala dos Santos" and "Sala do Consistório". And one last remark - always remember you are visiting the "Pelourinho" historical quarter, an officially appointed World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1985. Enjoy!

The tile work in the convent is really more impressive than all of the gilt work in the church. This is definitely worth taking the time to see both parts

It very nice place to visit, but it need more money from government to make it looks good. Few places are already almost breaking cause of lack of repair.

This was such a beautiful church! So ornate and gold every where! The courtyard has beautiful tile paintings depicted. There is a printed guide here in english- do grab one! The main church is amazing! Take your time, walk around. The entrance is 5 R. You can hire a guide I believe.

I visited this church on a Sunday, at a Mass time. It was frustrating that I could not go back later, because I wouldn’t have enough time, and out of respect for those attending Mass, I only saw it from a distance, appreciating the glamorous gold that dominates all the grandeur of this place. I felt helpless for not being able to visit it in detail, and frustrated for not being able to photograph it, something that was not allowed during the mass. I must go back and visit the church "comme il faut".

The heavy ornamentation is nearly breathtaking so i just sat and admired for a while. Solo visitors might hire a guide to explain the details.
