I played Michael Jackson's "They don't really care about us" video countless times before, and since our visit to Salvador. We saw the drummers troupes several times around town. A high point of our visit was me booking a percussion class for the 5 of us (I surprised the kids with the reservation for 1.5 hours) , right off the... More

Olodum is present throughout Salvador/Pelourinho, with even a shop at the airport. Here in the old city is their main location, a drumming school and performance venue. They often march around the neighborhood performing, and if you hear what is obviously a loud drum group in the distance, walk and seek them out, it's well worth the short detour and... More

The fish stew & the other dishes were lovely, service good & right in the midst of things, so you don't miss anything. This place was recommended to us & didn't disappoint.

the drums are wonderful, the music is awesome, the dancers are exquisite but the place... it is scary if you are by yourself. (woman solo traveller)

Oludum offers all sorts of classes. performances around town and such and has at least two locations (a storefront and the school). Naturally Michael Jackson blares from the store. A standup replica of the late singer is featured in Pelhourino where the video was shot. Folks can have their pic taken for a small fee--but its just as easy to... More

As the title says. The drums are excellent and you can feel the vibrations through the floor! Atmosphere is great. Anyone can join in the dancing, it looks like Zumba going on!

The Olodum drum performances are legendary. Although I did not get to see a live performance when I visited, I saw some recordings. We visited the Olodum drum academy and got an insight into the Olodum history. Fantastic music and wonderful story!
