This is your typical tourist trap that has lots of mass produced items. There are plenty of unique items and is an excellent place to get shirts and different items from Brazil. You can barter with all of them and I would highly recommend doing...More

Generally we thought it to be a bit overrated. Definitely worth visiting. But don't expect something spectacular

I like to visit central markets in cities and compare them. Mercado Modelo in Salvador is not one of the best I've been. Stores sell pretty much the same products (souvenirs, attire, etc.) and there are a few craft products. Sellers are very annoying if...More

The market offers regional products (clothing and handmade, for example). It is small, a bit dirty and hot. I was expecting more, but decided to leave early.

Putting an arts and crafts market into this historic building is a good idea. The noise and activities are overwhelming at times. Watch Capoeira while having refreshments in the restaurant. Also included in the Salvador bus tour!

Every shop has basically the same. If you look for some cheesy souvenirs to bring home go there and you'll be happy but it's not worth at all going there.

Good spot to pick up knickknacks as gifts or souvenirs. Crowded space- would recommend diligence with your wallet and purse.

Mercado Modelo is an arts and crafts market, very nice and authentic. Just... It doesn't matter how creative the item you found is, keep looking around the market. Specially, go to the second floor. Chances are you'll find it somewhere else, maybe even much cheaper....More

Mercado Modelo is the place you should go if you want to find the several typical souvenirs of Bahia. It’s a beautiful place, located just near Lacerda Elevator. It plays an important role in the history of Salvador. There, you may watch to a capoeira...More
