The beach itself is not ugly. However, the money changers at the stalls charge exorbitant prices to rent a table and chair, reaching up to 80.00.
Furthermore, upon arriving, our family seemed to have been taken over by several stall scalpers, each one offering their own price, fighting for us to sit in each other's stalls. Vulture on carrion, that's how we feel. There is a shack "from roque" money changer Guilherme, we sat in it. Terrible! This Guilherme wanted to charge more for the portion. Lucky we saw the price on the menu previously. He was going to charge a fee in bad faith to make more money. Portion of 130 wanting to charge 150.00...absurd. I didn't pay the same as they wanted. I tried to be fair and paid what was owed.
Anyway, yesterday we went to Stella Maris beach, it was much better. I recommend the Amigos do Ricardo tent there. Go to Stella Maris, you will love it!!!

We weren’t so lucky the day we came to Flamengo Beach. The water wasn’t flat or warm. It rained a little as well. We stayed at this beach front bar called Sol e Vida Beach. We had a couple of sodas, french fries, crabs and 4 Stella Artois bear. They charged us with 6 bears. I told them we didn’t have 6, but the guy was adamant about it. So keep an open eye!

Going to Flamengo is a nice way to spend the day. About 45 minutes from VitĂłria (about a R$85/US$35 taxi ride) without traffic, you will find this extremely nice, wide, and relatively uncrowded beach. Have the taxi take you to Barraca do Loro, at Praia de Aleluia and rent some chairs and umbrellas from them. Very safe -- I have no idea what the poster claiming its dangerous is talking about. Further north you will find stone reefs and tide pools which are nice for kids. Loro also has a nice restaurant and beach club, with good food and facilities.

Fantastic local snack food and fantastic caparinjas....Pity that there was a little down pour which meant we could not go down to the beach, but it looked like a great swimming beach. Staff at Pipa were great.

We went to Flamengo Beach during the World Cup. The Beach is really nice and has a good restaurant near by. You can go swimming and enjoy the sun. After lunch we went for a walk along the beach to the south. It was the same time as the Brasilian Match, and nobody was left on the beach. Suddenlly a guy walked towards us and wanted to grab our bags. Finally he stole our stuff. So be careful! Don't go there when there are no people!!!! It is only save when there are a lot of people.

The beach is quite nice, we've had a bit windy day, therefore expect a few waves.

Beach is super crowded, loads of vendors offering food and beverage and people fighting for a bit of space.

It's a beautiful beach still.

We spent some time at the BARRACA DO LORO, which offers several seafood courses and a good variety of drinks. Bit overpriced, but nice place to spend some time eating, chatting and enjoying a bit.

Taxi drivers will be waiting for you at the main road, beware of the scam. Ask your UBER before meeting them as they keep calling UBERs to increase the Uber metric to increase price and convince you to go with them for 2x, 3x of the real price.

Hello Thyago Thank you so much for your feedback. Next visit try other beaches of the city, such as Porto da Barra or Boa Viagem. As for the service of UBER we have no way to interfere, because it is not part of our administration. Come back whenever you wish. Prefeitura Municipal do Salvador

Flamengo Beach is the best in Salvador. Everything is better there, from the water itself to the lack of rocks, which are plenty in other beaches. It is also quiet, and far from the crowds. At low tide, the water trapped on the beach forms natural pools on the sand, which are great for adults and for children alike. Also, only at Flamengo Beach one can have great options to eat. The Loro and Pipa beach restaurants are among the top five in the area. For windsurf lovers there is no better spot in Salvador than Flamengo Beach. For these and many other reasons, I consider it to be the top beach in the city.

Really, the strip between stella maris, flamengo and maybe even ipitanga is nothing to call home about.

Sea, water, attendees, food are all mediocre, and so is the price in the other hand. I gues its valid for one visit just to get to know.

If you like to go to a beach where you can get big waves, so this is the right beach to go. This beach is the favourite of surfing. Just be careful with your stuff. There is a lot of pick pockets around the area.
