Located in the beautiful Plaza Terreiro de Jesús, sharing space with the cathedral and another small temple. Rococo style façade, neoclassical interior and the ceiling of the nave with a baroque illusionism technique. Its construction dates back to 1731. We only admire it from the outside. We did not enter due to lack of time since we were only in the city for a few hours.

This church is not very big, but very nice to visit. You have to pay about US$ 2.00 to visit. The church is very beautiful and you can see other parts of the church and some religious artifacts. Very well preserved.

Located in the square (Praca Terreiro de Jesus), exactly opposite of the Basilica Cathedral, this is a beautiful building from the outside. Like virtually everything else in Salvador, this church was closed on Feb. 26th, as people rested following Carnaval.

The Church of the Order of Terceira Sao Domingos Gusmao is an 18th century church that sits prominently in the main square at the opposite end to the Cathedral. It can be visited for a Real 5 fee.

Not as gold as Petro. Be sure to checkout the Right wing where the original church chapel is preserved. The ceiling is oil on wood plank but really would rival any other.
