Long, uncrowded beach

Beautiful beach- not too many hotels or buildings along it, near to village with tiny church and turtle sanctury

Beautiful beaches, nice place to walk around, the restaurants are nice, but very expensive and the food is not always good. Lots of music and fun.

Charming fishermen village. Laid-back life, ideal place to spend the days at the beach and dine at one of the numerous restaurants on the paved main street.

Be prepared to walk with HAVAIANA SANDALS and shorts all the time. Do not lose the fish balls. And the TAMAR project for young turtles

The beach of praia do forte, the TAMAR project and its surrounds compose one of the best options for a touristic day in Bahia. The TAMAR project, for a admission price (not very cheap, but not expensive either) sports a good variety of different species of turtles with plenty information about each of them. At theory it might not seem... More

Although we were happy to visit the sea turtles, the tour meant we spent the majority of the day inside a mini van - trying to cram in too many things meant less time actually outside and enjoying the sea, sun etc. Could easily be arranged with public transport etc yourselves at much cheaper cost - though if with families... The name of the project is the abbreviation of words TArtaruga MARina (marine turtles) It is the conservation project and the main goal of TAMAR is to protect marine turtles from ocean water pollution etc. Our experience of visiting this place was disappointing. We were badly impressed on how this scientific facility is organized. All giant turtles prisoned in Tamar... More

We went to this place, on the understanding that it was purely a conservation project, how wrong we were. upon walking into the site you are greeted with cardboard cut outs of cartoon turtles for the kids, I thought they have to do something to bring in additional revenue, unfortunately this theme was throughout the site. Large turtle in pools... More

Praia do Forte is a veryt turistical town, but anyway so nice and relaxed and with good music at some bars and restaurants. The Tamar project is worth a look but there is no English translation for the descriptions, there is some English for names and other items but limited. Anyway it is for sure worth visiting.

Praia do Forte is a lovely town with great beaches and a low-key, relaxed atmosphere. It's a great change from the chaos of Salvador. The turtle reserve was disappointing, however. While the work being done is excellent, the displays of the turtles leave a lot to be desired. Given the resources of this project, it felt tragic to see enormous... More
