Located within Praça da Sé, is a statue dedicated to the first bishop of Brazil, during our visit it was celebrations time, and the square was covered in stalls, and people.

Dom Pedro was the first Bishop of Brazil. He arrived in Salvador on June 22, 1552. He was killed and eaten by cannibals in June of 1556. This statue is only really noticeable because it is on the route between the elevator and the main square of the old city.

Dom Pedro was the first Bishop of Brazil and did his thing in the mid 1500's. It is an interesting statue with his head on a marble column.

First bishop of Brazil. The statue is in the well-known Plaza de la Sé and commemorates this character who died in a shipwreck.
