It's hard to imagine that in the past, all of this region, was part of a feudal dominion that was governed from a Castle. Nowadays we get to enjoy the landscape and amazing nature of Bahía, with the beatiful beaches overall.
But visiting this castle, just a short trip from Praia do Forte, allows you to connect with a colonial past full of harsh stories and lives.

A historic heritage with hundreds of years. There are several interesting points on this tour.

We start with a small museum featuring ancient artifacts, works of art and other pieces of the genre.

Then we meet the gameleira, a huge African tree that is hundreds of years old. Gives a beautiful picture.

Finally, we went to the castle, where it is possible to walk through the ruins and have a beautiful view of the sea. We watched Game of Thrones recently and reminded us quite a few elements of the series. For us, the only negative point is that the museum does not deepen the social dynamics of the time, which could enrich the experience.

Plus, it's really an instigating walk. It's worth it!

We went to visit the castle at 11 a.m. The entrance fee is 40 reais per person. The place is really beautiful and loves to see the ruins and the history of the place. You don't have a guided tour, so you need to walk and see.
It is worth going to get to know the Portuguese history better.
Whoever is more at night, has an audio-visual demonstration designed in the castle itself, but these we couldn't see.

Late afternoon between 16 and 17:30 hours we found a good time due to the variation of the lights on the site overturned by historical patrimony. Built in 1551. Only 51 years after the arrival of the Portuguese in Brazil. It is still in the process of geological excavation and investigation. We took beautiful photos. Entry of R $ 10,00 / person. Fair. After an event area with location description you walk down a street to the ruins. The view of the coast is also beautiful. Seen to be in a high place of the coast. The public power should invest soon in the conclusion of the access agreement because only half of the 3 km between the entrance of the city to the historical site has pavement of parallelepipedos. The dirt road has many dangerous holes. Especially after the rain the day before, when we passed there. Invest more in our history. Worth knowing.

A landmark in history, this castle built in 1551, with medieval characteristics, is worth a visit. From there we can have a panoramic view of the sea. It is very well preserved, with open visits. I recommend.

The castle is magnificent. There is a museum before that gives the context of the construction and brings some artifacts of the period. For those who like history, it's a good request. The view to the sea is beautiful too.

A piece of Brazilian history. With a good structure to welcome visitors and explanations through video and multimedia before entering the castle. It also has a beautiful view of the city and the sea.
