About Amazon Explorers - Private Day tours
In 1965, the idealist, Manuel Alcy Goes Barros, founded Amazon Explorers, giving his first steps toward the growth of tourism in this region. Since its foundation, Amazon Explorers has been very proud to offer very nice tours with the same responsibility and lots of joy. Eury Barros, his brother and sister have managed the agency with a lot of responsibility to increase the number of services offered to their customers; services such as: Airline tickets, Domestic and International Tours, Language Courses abroad and the Reception of cruise liners at the local harbor. The name of the agency, Amazon Explorers, was suggested by Richard Brill, an American who fell in love with our region. And it is this spirit of affection which is required to explore the Amazon consciously in order to preserve its environment and to promote a better relationship between man and nature. This is how AMAZON EXPLORERS sees the future in tourism.

We went to Manaus on June 2022 and Amazon explorers organized everything for us. They are extremely detail oriented and organized. We did the pink dolphin excursion that was amazing and the conjunction of both rivers. It was a lifetime experience!! I am glad we had them guiding on this trip. I would definitely recommend them!!

Went on the Amazon Safari full day - did not meet expectations. Or maybe my expectations were wrong? The first thing to say is that this is MASS tourism at its worst. You are on a boat with 40+ people. Every stop is designed for you to spend money. For example, even though dolphins are visible from the boat, you must go on the platform to take photos (which has a price). They forbid you from photographing dolphins from the boat! The Indigenous village felt like a human zoo, where foreigners are shafted in huge groups to watch a show, take photos and buy products. As we left another boatload of 40+ people arrive. At lunch, you are prohibited from bringing even water bottles in from the boat. Again, trying to squeeze more money from you. The 40+ people, constant loudspeaker etc. all meant that you dont feel at all like you are in touch with the Amazon. In saying all of this - the company is very very professional, easy to deal with, and the guides were lovely. It's not their fault that this tour is like Disneyland.

Went to the Amazon Safari 9am-3pm. Transportation from the hotel to the docks was provided. Snack, nonalcoholic beverages, and alcohol beverages we’re available for purchase on the boat in addition to the buffet that is included for the lunch. Guide spoke multiple languages but performed the tour mostly in Portuguese. The team is friendly and they made sure to attend to the groups needs. Overall it was a great and memorable experience. Would recommend.

We booked two trips with Amazon Explorers and had really great experiences. Starting from booking the tours itself, we were assisted by Arloany, who was very nice, flexible and helpful. We then had the pleasure to be guided by Gilton on both day trips. He was really great. Knowledgeable, and explained everything in both Portuguese and English. He really cared about the guests and the community. Especially so with our waterfall trip when the group was smaller. He made sure we made the most of our trip, he even bought me an ice cream. Prior to booking we spoke to a number of agencies all offering near identical activities. We chose them as they were the most professional and best priced - we couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
