The Maceió Municipal Park was opened in 1978 and is located on the street Marquês de Abrantes. It's a safe preservation area for animals and Atlantic Forest. Then, the place is perfect for the nature lovers who want to connect themselves with the mom earth, as well for doing activities as yoga and meditation.
Animals as Alligators, Armadillos, Tortoises, Owls, Foxes and Snakes entertain and catch the attention of children who come there for school activities and family outings.
The park is also a great place to go hiking, because there are five trails accessible to the public: Citizen Trail, Adventure Trail, Peace Trail, Pau Brasil Trail and Alligator Trail. For its beautiful scenery, many people also come to the place to take photos, especially couples.
If you want to go there to enjoy a great and calm time with the nature, the best day is Tuesday because there are fewer visitors, but if you don't care about it Satuday and Sunday can be a good day too.
I advise you to take water and food with you before visit the park, because there isn't any place to buy food or water.
As for the safety of the park, it's monitored 24 hours by municipal guards and environmental inspectors and when visiting there, the visitor is registered by the RG and CPF, and is accompanied by guards when requested.

We have been here two times. It is perfect for a day out of the sun on the beach. We had a walkabout and a picnic for 2-3 hours, They have a train if you have difficult to walk, but for us with our 6-year daughter it is no problem. And if you take your time you may see animals like macacos, preguicas, jacaré...

Peace of atlantic forest in the center of busy city. You get the feeling to be in the wild! Hard to acess though, only by car, not public transport.
