Arslanagić Bridge is the oldest bridge in Trebinje and one of its most famous attractions. It connects the two sides of the city, over the Trebišnjica river. It was built by the Ottomans in the 16th century. After 1687, many families of Turks from Herceg Novi fled to Trebinje. Among them was Arslan-aga, who was given the right to collect taxes from those who crossed the river. Thus, the bridge took its name and retains it to this day. The bridge is supported by nine bows, with the two largest dominating its image. Its length is 92 meters and its width is 3,60 meters. A special feature is the fact that its original position was 10km higher, but in 1966 it was moved to its present position to be saved, due to the construction of a barrier that would overcover it. It is impressive that it was dissolved and stone-stone transferred, so that within 6 years it was reconstructed and its present image was identical to the original one.

Obviously place to visit. Take a walk after the water. The bridge is beautiful and it is a grateful place for photography. We chose to lie down in the grass and sunbathe, and we also swam in the crystal clear and cold water. Bathing was the only one. :-)

Arslanagic Bridge is the most significant historical monument in Trebinje, which extends over the river Trebišnjica. It was built by Mehmed Pasha Sokolovic back in 1574.
Name Arslanagića Bridge was given in the 18th century after its bridge keeper Arslan-aga. In 1993, Mayor of Trebinje, Bozidar Vučurević renamed the bridge into Perovic Bridge, along with the neighbouring village. However, the original name is still widespread and deeply rooted. The bridge used to connect the trade routes of central Bosnia and Herceg Novi (in Montenegro today) and other important places in the Ottoman Empire. Interestingly, the whole bridge was moved in 1970s several kilometres away due to construction of hydropower.

Spectacular construction and location. The Bridge used to be some 5 km upstream, it was moved around 50 years ago because of the construction of an hydro-electric dam. Arslan Agha was a lord to whom was granted the right to impose a toll to the bridge’s users

Nice stroll from the centre of the old town. Possible to see it by following one bank of the river and come back to the city centre by following the other bank.

Nice river, bridge wery old, food verry good, climate fantastic. People are nice, vine the best and always come back

Better than Mostar without the tourists. A very interesting town with a lovely square, lots of quaint old streets, a beautiful river and lovely mountain backdrop.

The bridge is built during the ottoman period and is a beautifull landmark a short walk from the old city in trebinje. You can walk to it along the river and enjoy the sceneri there. On the top of the bridge there is a little stoneplate on the outside of the bridge that you can sit on and realy enjoy the view.

While driving through Bosnia on our way from Croatia to Montenegro, we stopped in Trebinje to look at this bridge. It was well worth the stop. It is a beautiful bridge, and the clear water in the river gives opportunities for great pictures when the arches reflect in the water.

I'm not sure it's worth a detour, but if in the area, it's worth a stop.

Arslaganica Bridge is the most beautiful bridge in the city called Trebinje, in the Southeast part of Bosnia&Herzegovina. It is located on the river Trebišnjica, outside the old town. It was built in the 16th century by ottomans and it is very beautiful. Because it has some arches (some arches are above other ones). Really I recommend you visit the bridge during the day and the night, when all is calm and relax. So that, you can sit down near the bridge and contemplate it and the river. It is fantastic! Moreover, it is possible to see it from Hercegovačka Gračanica, from where there are magnificient views of the town and the river. Really a great bridge!
