This museum is part of the Otemon Gate Complex and is nice to see the inner workings of one of Hirosaki's primary festivals.

I would encourage anyone interested in Japanese culture and religious beliefs to pay a visit to this small museum, which displays a number of huge, colourful, and meticulously prepared floats and drums which the Japanese use in their festival processions. As we know, Japan is situated on the volcanic zone, and at ancient times, Japanese believe that there are monsters living under the earth. The processions are held for different purposes but on the whole, they are held to seek blessings and to evict the evils. As technology advances, these processions are still being held today. These floats reflect vividly this part of the Japanese culture.
