We did the tour with two students who led us on a tour of 5 shrines, including the one where the Great Buddha is and the Bamboo Forest. Their local knowledge was essential, as getting to several of the shrines involved catching a local bus (and knowing where to get off!) and then walking up local streets to the location. They were happy to customise the tour but also made sure we didn’t miss any of the major places.

This is a great opportunity if you are planning to visit Kamakura. High School students studying English give tours of the shrines and town. We visited Kamakura our first full day in Japan. The day we went, there was a group of 4 boys and their teacher. They were very polite and energetic. The tour was personalized for our interests and went at our pace. The tour gave us a chance to learn about Kamakura and offered a chance for the students to practice conversational English. Their teacher was able to translate if needed. This was the perfect start of our vacation.

this tour was a very good surprise. we met with four of our guides and their teacher outside Kamakura station and they took us around town for a tour. we've visited the Great Bhudda and Hase-dera Temple where they explained to us not only about about the locations we were visiting but also curiosities about Japanese culture and daily life.
it's worth mentioning that our guides were high school students but this doesn't mean that they are any less capable of being decent guides. in fact, we really enjoyed their explanations and company.
next time I'm in Kamakura, we will definitely meet them again!

Upon arrival at the Kamakura Station, I was approached by a group of students who offered to take me on a guided tour to any of the destinations of my choice in the Kamakura region. I agreed and I was not disappointed with my decision. My guides took me to the main attractions that I had hoped to see which included the Hokokuji Bamboo Forest, Kōtoku-in (temple with large statue of the Buddha), and Enoshima Island to see the lighthouse (Sea Candle) and the elaborate light displays that were set up for the winter festivities. While we toured these areas, the students had a wealth of background information about the specific sites and they also offered plenty of discussions on the cultural significance of the things we were seeing and the places we visited. We also had the time to eat a pleasant lunch at a local restaurant. Having personal guides for this trip significantly enriched my experience and I was able to enjoy great conversation throughout the day while learning about the history of the region and day-to-day lives of the students. If you plan to visit the Kamakura area, I would highly recommend that you enjoy the day with these enthusiastic and knowledgeable young men.

We found these 4 boys when we arrive to the Kamakura station offering us a tour around the city. They were flexible with the places to visit and guide us to the main temples and shrines in the city. We enjoyed a lot their company and explanations about the temples and local culture and we also share a lunch with them in a very nice and hide place that they recommend. Overall it was a very nice experience to share a lovely day with these students and we would repeat if we come back. They were all kind and with great knowledge about the city. We would definitively recommend this tour.

This was an enjoyable and interesting tour. Hiroto and another student met us at the Kamakura Station on Saturday afternoon and capably guided us to some very impressive sites despite the rainy day. (pack your umbrella this time of year). The primary attractions here are temples and shrines. They are well worth seeing. The guides were enthusiastic and flexible. They try very hard to make your visit special. They will accommodate schedule and itinerary changes to provide a tour customized just for you. Did I mention the great value? This tour has it all!

When I got to Kamakura the first thing the kids asked me was where did I wanted to go. I sent them a list about the places I was interested on some weeks ago and they didn't checked it so the trip wasn't planned at all. It didn't really matter because they well know the city, but their lack of planification bothered me. One of the kids was really shy and didn't say a word on the whole trip, it was sort of awkward but understandable since they are not professional guides.

I think I could have gone by my own and I would have had a nice trip, but they showed me places I didn't found on a first search on internet so that was interesting.
I recommend this tour if you don't know much about Japan and want to be carried by some guides. They will explain you things about the city and show you places according to you interests, they will do their best effort to give you the best tour you can have. I also think the tour is far too expensive since your guides are not professional guides and you also have to pay for their tickets.

Very important: all the shops and places on the city are closed by 19:00 so doing the longest tour becomes somehow meaningless. You can take the guy's short tour and later visit the city by your own if you want to take profit of the trip, but the longest tour just becomes somehow too long.

We enjoyed our informative and helpful tour from Yuto and Shion from the very beginning. They brought us to some great historic spots. They spoke good english and gave us great historical and cultural information. I would definitely recommend using these as tour guides. We were also very lucky to watch a traditional Japanese wedding ceremony of which they both informed us of what was happening. Well done to both of them they deserve great credit :)

My husband and I went to visit Japan for the first time, and as part of our rather short trip - we decided also to go to Kamakura to see the "Great Buddha".
We were very delighted to find out, the possibility to be guided by some local students and booked it right away.
There was a very good mail correspondence ahead of our visit.
And right on time - Shunsuke and Souma welcomed us at the Kamakura Station. Two young men, curious on life; they had taken this opportunity /responsibility to meet and guide tourists coming to their country.
They took us right to the ticket office and bought tickets to the local bus, which we could use throughout the whole day. We went straight to se the "Great Buddha" and and from then on we just had the most wonderful day. They told us some of the history of the the temples we visited, and the customs before entering as well as customs and manners of Japanese culture.
We had lunch and and really good laughs. We had booked 6 hours, but before we knew the day was over. Shunsuke and Souma said it didn´t matter, but we felt very sorry to take more of their time, although it was fun it didn´t seem right. - and only our fault the schedule wasn´t kept.
To us, that too was a big lesson. When it comes to culture. Japanese people are so polite, they will always leave it up to you, where in Europe a guide would have said : "Now it´s time to move on, or else you wont see all we have planned for you".
Shunsuke and Souma, we can not thank you enough for giving us such wonderful time - and the souvenirs you gave us when seeing us off, we will treasure for the rest of our lives (!)
We really hope to be back some day - and it would be wonderful to see you again.
May the force be with you ! BIG SMILE

On Monday, 2/11/2019 we spent a full day walking with Yoshie from Japan Wonder Travel. She was spectacular! Kind, informative, and flexible to adapt to our requests. We were able to learn the Metro system, see the Japanese Independence Day celebrations and parade, as well as the Meiji Shrine, Senso-Ji Temple, sushi for lunch, and the Imperial Palace. She helped us line up our tickets at Tokyo Station so we could travel to Hiroshima which helped us feel much more at easy for the next day’s trip. I would highly recommend spending a day with this company!
