Beautiful architecture

The tourist information was moved out, but you can still visit this historical building, which was owned by a wealthy family named Akita. Although the building is quite western, the inside rooms are typically Japanese. The entrance is free, but you have to write down your name.

Attractive building that caught my eye!

This attractive building sufficiently caught my eye as I passed by that I photographed it, noting in particular that it appeared to have a garden on the roof. At the time I guessed it was perhaps a Post Office or some other commercial building without realising it was actually the 'Shimonoseki Tourist Information Centre'.
Perhaps they need to increase the signage to make it more obvious that if I had ventured inside, I would have gathered the sort of information that a tourist like me obviously needs!

Good to be there to get to know city history

the location of this info center is not good as a tourist center, somehow they have good information for the tourists. The staff was very kind and speaks several foreign languages. Since I was the only visitor, I had good time to chat with her about the city. I visited Shimonoseki 1999, but I cannot recognize many things. It changed a lot. Amusement park, starbucks, aquarium, and many ig buildings.... The tourist center building looks to have its history as a local company in the past. It became a national heritage recently. Close to this info center, there are several spots to visit for tourists. Just visiting here, while you are nearby, is good idea. The lady staff who caused with me, gave me post cardson which I could see the old monuments.that was also very cool.
