I came to Tsunoshima at a perfect time. The weather was warm, the sky was blue, it was just perfect! There are quite a few parking spaces available right here at the lighthouse park and you are free to walk around the area. Take some of the small trails toward the beaches, the views are incredible. The whole area was nice and green a few weeks ago, it looks beautiful. The lighthouse complex can be accessed, there is a small fee to go to the top, but makes for incredible views of the Sea of Japan. There is a gift shop here, restrooms are available as well. After exploring for a few hours, there are small shacks at the parking lot serving fresh squid. If you are already near Tsunoshima to see the bridge, might as well come here.

The top of the lighthouse commands a very fine view of the Japan Sea side of Tsunoshima Island. The lighhouse itself is the oldest of its kind along the Japan Sea side. It was made by a British engineer. Lenses were brought from Britain and the beautiful stones were from Kurokamishima in Tokuyama(Shunan).

The extremity of Tsunoshima does not disappoint. For a small fee, you can climb up the lighthouse and get a breathtaking view on the sea of Japan. And if you want to try something fresh and local, you can eat some locally caught grilled squid. Tasted quite good! Give it a try. You can also walk up to the shore and the see the waves wash up on the shore. If you come to Tsunoshima, please drive all the way to the lighthouse park.
