Nothing exciting about this factory visit. There are more educational experience available in the area. OK if you go for the cafe or just have no better option on a rainy day.

If you're in the area, or even passing through and you have children that have a penchant for factories and conveyer belt things then it's well worth going. The cafe is probably the best part for adults, sweets and tea were delectable.

Its quite a drive in to the factory. One gets to see from an upper level the snack making process which ends off with a short video. There's a small cafeteria enroute to the retails outlet. My initial impression was that the snack were made and tasted like unagi but instead there are more sweet biscuits, just made to look... More

It is interesting how Japan have their machines operating to make the unagi pies. It is not a large factory and it is not accessible by public transport. The unagi pie tastes much like regular pie. There are samples to try and we love the peanut taste. They also have pies with brandy dashed on it. Interesting to visit.

We were allowed to try the various flavor of the eel biscuits. The best is the chocolate ice cream type.

We couldn't pass up the chance to visit the Unagi Pie Factory, even though it was about a 20 minute (JPY2,250) cab ride from the nearest train station (Takatsuka). We weren't able to join an organized tour, but it seemed that our self-guided tour allowed us to see all the same things, so we didn't mind. It was fascinating to... More

The factory of eel was very nice, because you could eat some of pies free. I guess people in other country thinks that 'eel factory' is a little bit disgusting but it is actually not true! They call 'eel factory', because in my opinion it looks like eel because it is rolled, and they say because in this city Hamamatsu-City... More

We really enjoyed the tour of the unagi (eel) pie factory. Unfortunately there's no public transport to the site so we took a taxi from Takatsuka Station (small station but there's a taxi rank there) costing about $25 each way. The tour itself was free and we were given souvenir unagi pies upon arrival. The desk also called a taxi... More

I wasn't expecting much, but this was actually pretty fun. The fact that the tour is completely free is definitely a plus, and you even get free unagi pies! There is something almost hypnotic about looking down on the workings of the factory, seeing all the unagi pies zipping down their chutes... There's not a lot to the tour, but... More
