We pride ourselves as being one of the most experienced and dedicated whale-watching companies in Washington. Because of our very high success rate, Island Adventures was one of the first and only companies to guarantee whale sightings on every tour - but it's our team of highly qualified crew that will make your trip unforgettable! They boast over 100 years of combined experience in the islands, over 4100 days with the whales, and have led excursions for over 80,000 satisfied customers.

Our family had such a fun time! While out on the tour we were able to see orcas and a humpback. The captain provided such great opportunities to see and photograph them. The crew was passionate and respectful and we felt very reassured by their guarantee of seeing a whale with the purchase of a ticket.

Being out on the Water is good for your Spirit as you travel over the Salish Sea though the beautiful San Juan Islands on a clean comfortable boat. Yesterday we saw a Superpod of Orcas. small seabirds that had traveled up from Peru to the Pacific Northwest. Stellar sea lions, eagles, and a great blue heron. If I could have... More

Had a great day with Island Adventures. It took a long time and they burned some extra gas. But we saw them! A group of beautifull Orka's. They enjoy what they are doing and run a good and friendly operation!

I took a 5 hour tour on 8/8 with Island adventures. Our tour started of rainy and I was cold, but that was my own fault since I chose not to go into the indoor seating area. About 1.5 hours in we found the orcas in K pod. We got to spend 1.5 hours with them before we had to... More

Well run whale watch unfortunately very few whales. Crew and boat are good but I would skip the cruise until whales are in the area. Unfortunately, like most we had to go when we were there on vacation and no one will give you a straight answer. Yes we saw one small minke whale, yes we saw a whale. No... More

Thanks for taking a tour with us – we’re thankful that our staff, crew, and vessel exceeded expectations! Wildlife is simply that – wild. We have no control on what the whales do or where they go. The prime whale watching time in the San Juan Islands is May-September, so the reviewer did not choose the wrong time to go.... More

But... We saw no orcas. Is that the fault of the company? No. It's nature being nature. Was I disappointed? Greatly. We saw minke whales which are a bitter disappointment from an orca (no offense, minkes) We drove three hours from where we were staying because we read reviews and felt this was the best company to use. Would I... More

Sometimes expectations are tough to live up to. We try to set realistic expectations for every guest and actually put ourselves at a competitive disadvantage by not marketing “orca whale watching tours.” In all of our literature, we say that we focus on five types of whales – humpback, minke, gray, and two different kinds of killer whales. Everyone has... More

We went on a whale watching tour with Island Adventures and had a great time. There was indoor and outdoor seating, the guides were informative, and customer service was great on the ship and in their gift shop. We saw lots of wildlife and beautiful scenery of the San Juan islands - and of course orca whales. My only complaint... More

I had an absolutely amazing time with Island Adventures. The people who took us out work very hard to keep everyone safe and comfortable. For example, the Coast Guard allows 140 people maximum on the boat, but they keep it to 120 people to ensure everyone can have rail space and move comfortably. The captain is always communicating with other... More

This is more of a nature watching trip with the purpose of seeing whales. We had a 5 1/2 hour trip that took us to Deception Pass and in and around the San Juan Islands. The scenery is really nice and you will also get to see other wildlife such as sea lions, puffins, bald eagles, ducks, etc. plus whales.... More
