These whale watching tours are definitely a cut above others in the area. The boat is comfortable with viewing from the first deck and viewing from plush comfortable seats on the second deck. The crew are well-informed about the habits of whales and their presence in the Salish Sea. They are also helpful and very personable. There is a bar and gift shop. We saw a variety of sea life including several sea lions chilling on buoys and the fabulous scenery of Washington state. Best of all, we spent the majority of our time watching the J2 Pod orcas while being briefed on their migratory habits, reproduction, feeding habits, and current scientific studies relative to them.

We had an excellent experience! We reserved ahead of time, which provided us a discount. The boat was extremely clean and COVID considerations were extremely well thought out with chairs and tables blocked off to ensure social distancing. All of the crew pitched in to sanitize surfaces throughout the cruise and to enforce masking and social distancing requirements. The crew were very knowledgable and the naturalist on board had a great amount of knowledge that she delivered at an appropriate level for non-biologists (like us). Would have liked a slightly more diverse onboard food menu. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend!

The crew are absolutely incredible!!!! We saw so many Orcas but even if we hadn't, the crew would have still made this an unforgettable experience. A HUGE THANK YOU to Captain Scott, Tyson, Amy, & Casey!! Also our interactions at their awesome gift shop beforehand were top notch and we felt very welcomed! We purchased our 5 tickets online but my husband called their office to ask a question and had a great conversation with their front desk staff as well. Every single person we interacted with who works for Island Adventures was wonderful and we cannot wait to return next year!! We were on the Island Explorer 5 boat and it was smooth, clean (even being cleaned multiple times while out), new and comfortable! I will be telling everyone I can about their company! Also, as we went during Covid- We felt very safe and relieved by their diligence in ensuring all precautions were taken and state mandates were followed. If we weren't a 3 hour drive away, we would go regularly!

I had been on their tour almost 10 years ago. The only thing that changed is the most amazing boat, Island explorer 5. I went last on Island explorer 3. We went on Aug 28th and it was a foggy morning but the boat was comfortable and staying inside watching out the huge windows was certainly warmer. The captain got us on whales and as always they are so spectacular. Saw a whale do a spyhop 3 different times and also saw a sea lion that did not fare well between a brother and sister that was feeding. We saw so many sunbathing sea lions, luckily they stayed on the rocks! The restrooms are nice, everything is so clean! There is food and drink at the little cafe and it's so nice to take a break on board. The captain who i think was Scott and Tyrus who is knowledgeable on wildlife, birds and identifying the whales are amazing, keeping us informed on the wildlife and islands which are incredibly beautiful. Tyrus is also the photographer and he takes amazing photos of everything especially the whales! Thanks for another amazing tour!

Andy, Thanks so much for joining us! What a fun comparison to make 10 years later - many of our crew are still here! The new Island Explorer 5 is a vessel we're incredibly proud of and we work very hard to keep her looking her best, so thanks for noticing! We're glad you had a wonderful time and will pass on your comments to the crew!
