We came to Anacortes to visit our son, and new daughter-in-law, who are currently stationed in the area. Our 20 year old son, and girlfriend were also with us. We did the Anacortes 3 hour Kayak Trip. The equipment was all in very good repair, and our guide Ryan was awesome. He was very knowledgable of the area, and provided great instruction. He quickly made himself one of the group so we never felt like we were just following in tow. He paced the excursion so we never felt rushed, and had ample time to take in the amazing wildlife, land, & seascapes. Megan greeted us as we returned, and provided us with a nice pic that included our whole group. It was, without a doubt, one of the highlights of our trip. We highly recommend taking in the breathtaking views from the perspective of a Kayak!!

We did a three day kayak and camping trip leaving from Anacortes with Cypress Island our final destination. We camped there two nights and returned on day 3. Our group included four adult children, one wife, one boyfriend, and a 9 month old. One person doesn’t swim and Mom and baby obviously weren’t kayak ready. If this was a challenging group to plan for, Meghan never let on. She took additions and deletions from our roster in stride, arranged for a water taxi for our non-paddlers with nary a grumble, and even provided extra grub when I hinted we had some big appetites in our group. The equipment AKT provided was great but the best part was our amazing guide, Sam II. He led us stalwartly through our crossings, filled us in on the flora and fauna, and cooked us delicious meals - all without batting an eye. I would do another trip with Anacortes Kayak Tours with joy!

Megan and Erik customized an 8 day 7 night all inclusive guided kayak tour of the San Juan Islands for a group of 7 friends, all seniors I might add. They provided us with excellent sea kayaks, camping gear, and food. Our young guides were very professional as well as outstanding cooks! They knew the local tides, currents, and weather and steered us safely through the maze of islands that are the San Juans. In addition they delivered on the wildlife, as we saw Orcas, Sea Lions, Harbor Seals, Dolphins, Otters, and Sea Stars.

Matt who we later nicknamed Scott, made the San Juan islands an incredible experience for us. Not only did we eat like we were at a 5 star restaurant, our campsite views are that of a 5 star hotel. The San Juan islands blew my mind and I would recommend AKT to everyone I know. I will be back in the future!

To top off the trip our last day we had lunch at the lighthouse while orcas swam by. Couldn’t even believe what I was seeing. Matt really created a once in a lifetime experience for us

I gave my husband a birthday present of the Sunset and Bioluminescence trip. Family went too, with teenagers. It was magical! The sunset paddle was beautiful, with the tiniest sliver of moon rising and falling near the sunset. As darkness decended we paddled near the even darker edge of the island to stir the water with each stroke. It was as if the stars above all fell into the water! twinkling lights above and below us. It was mesmerizing.

This was my third trip with Anacortes Kayak and it did not disappoint. We camped on two islands and paddled around several others. The food was great. Matt and Jake were wonderful guides and great cooks. Being the oldest on the trip, they made sure I had all the help I wanted. On the third night, after being out all day, we came back to camp and someone playing the Scottish fiddle from a boat at the dock. What could be more perfect that that! Thanks to Meghan who picked me up and delivered me to Memorial Park when the taxi I ordered did not show up. Everything was organized perfectly to make it a great trip. I am looking forward to a 5 day trip next year.

We went on the Sunset/Bioluminescence kayak tour with Ben and Jake. They told us to wear shoes that can get wet, but Ben and Jake had us get in the kayak on the beach and then pulled us into the water. What service! ❤️ We loved paddling along the shore and hearing about the area and wildlife as we went. We had the perfect night with no wind so it was an easy paddle. We saw birds, seals and Jake pulled a crab out of some bull kelp to show us. Once it got dark (we chose a date when the moon was new) we began to see the bioluminescence. At first it was just a few sparkles in the water, but as it got darker, there were more and more. It was amazing. I have never seen anything like it and likely never will again. What an awesome experience.

Just some other info: we chose to reschedule because of the rain and Megan was very accommodating. There is really no need to bring a phone/camera as it’s too dark to take photos and it’s really hard to get to your phone once you have the pfd and the spray-skirt on. (Unless you put it in the dry bag and attach it to the kayak. I brought a water bottle and it fit in the bungies in front of me but I wished I’d brought a carabiner just to make it more secure. I also brought gloves as I thought my hands would get cold and I put them in the dry bag they provided for me. Unless your gloves are waterproof, there is no need to bring gloves as your hands will definitely get wet. Because of the spray-skirt, only my hands and sleeves got wet and I really didn’t get that cold. We got lucky and had a small group - 8 people - but they take larger groups as well.
I definitely recommend this amazing experience with this great company.

We worked with the amazing folks at AKT to design a 3 day private trip for a group of 9 friends late this July from Orca’s to Sucia + Pathos islands and WOW did it exceed expectations! The planning process could not have been easier thanks to Megan’s incredible patience, expertise, and willingness to work with our group’s nuances (including a 20-wk pregnant participant, numerous dietary restrictions, and some numbers changes). She held our hands through the process, she and Emma checked in multiple times to confirm details, and truly made the challenging logistics feel simple.

Our trip itself was led by the exceptionally fun, aspirationally chill/experienced/competent guide duo of Liam and Shelem who felt like friends by the end of our trip and provided the right amount of adaptation on the fly to keep our group challenged and happy. They even did a late night bioluminescence paddle, which was so magical + cool. Most importantly, they were very focused on conditions and safety, were transparent with us about their thought process, and made all of us feel remarkably comfortable and confident in an unfamiliar activity/environment. Also, food was yummy and we were all so thankful we paid extra to have them handle this for us. Portions were generous, we definitely worked up an appetite paddling! Wildlife can’t be planned but we saw numerous seals (+babies!), bald eagles, herons, porpoise, and a humpback whale! The San Juan islands are so gorgeous - rain and shine, they took our breath away.

Could not recommend this team more thoroughly, would absolutely work with them again in the future.

5-Day Kayak Tour

AKT does an excellent job at providing kayak tours through the SJI.

We did a 5-day tour which was led by Quinn and which had the food/equipment provided.

First, working with the office was the best customer service. Learning about the tours, making the reservations, and preparing for our trip was easy, courteous and efficient. We knew exactly what to bring and to expect.

Second, on the trip, Quinn is a knowledgeable, professional, courteous, talented, and personable kayak leader. As he led us through the five days, he provided detailed info about the islands, the geology, the history and the wildlife in the area. It wasn't just superficial; it was deep.

We will definitely use AKT again and do another five-day tour in another part of the SJI.

Had a 3-day trip camping and hiking on Cypress Island, threw in 3 days on the water kayaking with Tim M. as our guide. It was the perfect storm of great weather, no wind, and an awesome guide. To say you’d be in good hands with Tim is an understatement. His attention to detail, local area knowledge, and obvious love for what he does is unparalleled. His main concern was our well-being and for us to have the best trip of our lives. He succeeded on all counts. We ate the best food (and had plenty of it), and saw more sea life than I ever imagined we would see due to his ability to spot and show us where to look. Totally amazing. Already planning a 5-day trip next for next year!
