House of Steep Always Deilghts
Jan 2018 • Couples
This was our 4th or 5th visit to House of Steep to have foot/leg massages and foot soaks. It was our first visit since they have been under new management. Each and every time we have come to Steep we have enjoyed our experience.

The massages are lovely. The practitioners working on us were pleasant and professional - checking in periodically to make sure the pressure was good and that we were comfortable. The chairs in the "foot sanctuary" area are very comfortable and there are plenty of pillows to prop up your head.

The foot soaks are also delightful. You choose what you would like added to your water - herbs, oils, etc. We did not feel at all rushed and left with rejuvenated feet and legs.

Relaxing and catching up
Jul 2017 • Friends
We made a stop over in our travels to see family. Last time we visited we ran out of time, so we couldn't wait to try it. Everything was wonderful. From the amazing staff who was educated and helpful, to the delightful tea and lavender cookies, the foot bath was just what we needed. Make time to visit this establishment it's perfect.

Terrific place for tired feet
Mar 2017 • Solo
I have chronically tired feet from numerous foot related sports injuries and falling arches -- the foot soaks are great and the foot massages are heaven!!! They really help. The owner is an extreme endurance runner and has folks who can keep your feet going for the serious adult athlete. The food is terrific as well?

summer bliss!
Jul 2016 • Couples
Great place--my husband and I had a "date afternoon. " We each ordered a pot of tea--my husband chose a white tea--I chose jasmine pearl. We were both happy with what we ordered. Front staff was knowledgeable about our teas. We were given timers to remind us no to over-steep the tea--our reflexologists also reminded us. We closed the place with a 5:30 appointment for a 25 minute foot reflexology massage and soaks Friday of holiday weekend--. Everyone we came into contact with was professional and and as clients, we felt that our comfort with the process was a top priority. Because we were there so late, we got a little extra soaking time--which was appreciated. We are probably going to go ahead and buy the frequent soaker package, which include a small discount a free pot of tea. We will probably go ahead and but the longer massage--that 25 minutes goes by in the blink of an eye.

Beautifully restorative -- my favorite place for a break in a busy day
Dec 2015 • Solo
I love House of Steep -- have been there frequently since it opened and am happy to fill up my frequent pot card so I can get my free pot and start over. I love to go there for a quiet break in the day to read or to bring a friend to linger over tea and a snack. The foot services are heavenly, especially the foot massage or reflexology from Vital, and the soaks leave you feeling pampered and restored. It is a great place to warm up in cold weather and to sip tea and watch the world by by from an outside table in spring and summer. Everyone who works there is exceptionally kind and you can tell that they are happy to be there and happy to see you.

An oasis of relaxation
Dec 2015 • Solo
I always have achy feet and ever since I heard about it. So for my birthday I scheduled myself for a soak and foot massage. It was as lovely as I'd hoped. I started by selecting Peach Apricot under the White and Green tea section as my refreshment. They advised me to brew it a little less than the green sand timer to avoid bitterness and it came out delicious and fragrant. I sipped on that throughout my soak and massage. They asked if I wanted more but you get a really big cup so one was enough. I requested the peppermint bergamot soak. They got the hammered copper foot bath all ready for me with my selection. It smelled heavenly. They kept the water hot as I soaked and it felt great. At the end of the soak, the massage therapist came in to give me my massage. She used a nice foot balm (can't remember the name but they sell it there). Between her warm hands and the balm, my feet melted in her hands. All the knots were worked out as she massaged and stretched my toes and feet. A surprise was how good it felt to have my kneecaps massaged. I know it seems a little weird to have a foot soak and massage without the pedicure, but it was what I was looking for. I'll be going back again.

Relaxing Hidden Oasis

Go steep yourself. You will not be sorry!
This little gem looks like a normal shop on the outside, but when you step inside you feel the loveliness of it all! The air smells good. The staff is kind. The foot steep - oh baby the foot steep! I took an out of town visitor with me and we both loved it! We had a steep and a foot/lower leg massage. We also enjoyed tea and lunch. Every little detail was done just right.

Not a cheap experience, but worth the investment for a special treat. Steep - I will be back!

Steep Yourself In This Oasis
Aug 2014 • Solo
I had to wait longer than I'd anticipated for my car to be serviced at a dealership on Lee Highway in the Cherrydale area. I decided to try and make this a more positive experience so wandered out to enjoy today's weather and saw the House of Steep -- a Tea House and Foot Sanctuary. I was just looking to kill some time and, instead, was fortunate enough to have found a quiet, civilized and serene oasis in an not obviously likely place.

My good fortune was in having Vital Akimana there as well as Jessica. Their warm, inviting welcome encouraged me to stay for tea, a foot soak and one of the best foot massages I have ever had. Vital is both a massage therapist and a true tea expert. He explained the difference between "tea" and "tisanes" in a way that I could finally understand. At his suggestion, I had a cup of soothing and delicious chrysanthemum tea. Vital also gave me several lavender shortbread cookies that are made in-house -- their delicate shape and flavor were a perfect complement to the tea.
I then had a fabulous foot soak and massage. I'll be back as soon as possible for more of this oasis.

Overall - a cool place - tea is high quality
Jul 2013 • Friends
My review is limited because I only went for an hour on a Wednesday night. There was no-one else present (we closed the place). My friends and I were planning some volunteer work, and really should not have used the place for this "meeting" - but then my friends are a bit loud so I tried to be quiet. They really encourage you not to have cell phones on - just to use it to relax. All I can speak for is that the staff were very friendly, the food my friends ordered was yum, and that I purchased some of their signature earl grey tea with bergamot. Brought it home and for $6 that supposedly makes 18 servings (what they say equates to the 1oz bag), I found the tea very aromatic and ground fine enough that I could get multiple cups out of one tea-ball. Therefore, this review should encourage you that if you like tea, the quality of their teas is top-notch. I'll have to come back for a foot soak when it's not the weekend and not crowded.
