the sound wasn't great
May 2017 • Couples
My partner and I went to Iota Club to hear a band play, and overall, while it is a good live music venue, the sound guy was terrible it definitely ruined some of the voices for us.

The club is rather small, but it is a standard over in Clarendon. Everybody knows about this club.

For whatever reason, even though literally nobody was eating, the waitress really was trying to get us to order food. I didn't really understand that part, because it was 10 PM and everyone was just drinking. I haven't tried the food here.

The sound guy was a disappointment – he kept fiddling with the sound but whole songs were ruined and I felt bad for the performers. Don't know if that is a regular occurrence, but the sound equipment stayed the same because it's part of the club.

open mike night?
Dec 2016
We went on a weeknight that must have been open mike night, just for dinner. It seemed to be open mike night with local amateurs. Dinner was simple and fine, and the music volume was OK for conversation.

Great music and food in Clarendon!
Oct 2016
Not to be missed -- great food and music and drinks in a relaxed, friendly environment. The smasher pressed sandwiches are fantastic and they book a variety of great music acts.

High Energy, Good Food/Drinks
May 2015
Often have live music here making a lively scene. Nice craft/draft beer selection. Very tasty food as well. Can get loud easily (as expected with a club/bar).

Vegetarian Options and Great Music
Jun 2015
It's a little more 'off the beaten path' of Clarendon when referring to the scene but right in the heart of all the action. Good food with veggie options, good coffee and great music.

Unique and locally owned delightful cafe/coffee bar/bar that hosts regular music and poetry event
Aug 2015 • Couples
IOTA is locally owned and very hospitable, offering delicious food and drinks and a small but cozy and accommodating setting that hosts regular music (usually a small fee) and poetry (no fee) events that draw wonderful performers. Do come!

We go there often.

Iota rocks.

We love this place. hey always have great bands. Very diverse, but always good. Superb beer selection... local brews plus other great craft brews from around the country. Even PBR on tap for hipsters that like to pretend it's a craft beer. The food is solid as well, plus they have the same coffee they serve at the White House.

Good Local Bar
Sep 2014 • Couples
Visited during a trip to DC - decent local music bar with a claim to fame mention in The West Wing! We had dinner - place is nothing fancy but service was exemplary and food reliable, band was setting up but we didn't have time to stay. Definitely worth a stop by for a drink or quick bit of nosh if you are in Arlington, good atmosphere and positive vibe - particularly LGBT friendly with weekly night on a Tuesday.

Bad experience
May 2014 • Friends
Tried to call Iota more than 10 times this past week to ask if they take reservations. Have a party of 10 that want to come for dinner and a show. No one ever answered. always got message that your mailbox was full. Finally drove from Alexandria to personally ask about reservations and was told no. Not even for a party of 10. I then asked the bartender if they knew their phone didn't work. I was told yes and that is why they encourage email. I ask then, why do they put their phone #'s on their webpage and why isn't their email address on the homepage with a note that plainly says "email us because we don't answer phone calls"? Myself and my party of 10 will now eat somewhere else but still come to the show.
