Well , I’m never hard on a location but I must express my disappointment here. We were excited to go an enjoy a good flight of beer and an enjoyable evening inside the large , open brewery . Well. We were unable to get a flight , strike one. This evening was pretty chilly and there’s only outside seating . Strike two. The third strike was the fact a reservation was required to get a outside seat with a heater.
I realize that the virus has everyone scared but goodness gracious , what an awful experience. We are a year out from the start of the virus . If you want to require reservations at least have inside seating as an option in the cold temperatures.

Was looking for a place to meet some friends who had just flown into DC. Expectations where not high, and PCB was suggested by a local couple living in the area.

What a gem. It opens 4pm in the afternoon. They serve about 12 different types of beers...and have 2-3 special beers on the go. Dark Mexican Larger was my favorite

6 flight taster of beers is $12. You get to pick the beers, or the staff can recommend. They did throw in a 7th taster on the house.

Staff are super friendly and attentive. Brewery starts tours after 6:30pm (free of charge). You can bring your own food to eat, or wait for the food truck that arrives at 5:30pm.

Lots of seating inside and outside. Very diverse group of visitors, family’s with kids, dog walkers and people finishing work for the day.

It’s 10min drive from the Alexandrea....grab and Uber it’s worth the trip.

This was my first brewery tour and I was under impressed. Don't get me wrong, they had some great beers, but the tour itself was not worth it to me.

For $12/person you get to have a flight of 6 beers +1 they give you on the house. This alone is a great value considering you get about 1/2 pint of beer in each glass.

However, the tour was not worth it. The whole brewery is in one room, along with picnic tables were you can hang out and talk/drink (i.e. very loud). The tour had about 30 people on it and consisted of one man yelling out so everyone can hear. If you are in the back like I was, it's pretty much just sipping your beer and trying to catch a word here and there. We moved to a few spots in the room and then ended about 20 minutes later. Nothing special, didn't learn all that much.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about the price, but I was more interested in getting a more hands on visit and learning more about the beer making process. If you want to swing by and drink some good beers (Porter, Metro Red and Ways & Means were my favorite) then this is a good spot. If you are interested in learning more about beer and the process to make it, maybe go somewhere else.

We discovered Port City while biking along Holmes Run Trail in Alexandria, VA. Located in what appears to be an industrial park, the Port City Brewery has an nice exterior that includes an outside drinking area (with a firepit), plenty of parking, and a bike rack for anyone that wants to travel there the way we did. The interior is simple: two bars, typical bar seating arrangements, and a back around with additional seating and arcade games. If your interested, Port City does offer tours of the brewery, and has events that take place every month as well.

The beer is great! And with 9 beers on tap, typically ranging in price from $3 (Taster) to $7 (Tulip,Pint), there's guaranteed to a beer on the menu to satisfy any taste and price point. If you like stronger beers (think Guinness), I suggest the Porter (Robust Porter, 7.2% ABV), easily one of the best in the category.

We definitely plan to come back for the beer, atmosphere, and for one of their many monthly events!

Port City provides an excellent selection of beers and ales raging from English bitters, to Belgiums, and typical hoppy American craft beers. The are consistently good. The brew pub is a bit out of the way for visitorys, but you are rewarded for your efforts.

If you haven't heard of Port City, you should've by now!!!! This brewery is the real deal and we just moved here from San Diego, the beer mecca of the world. Great people, tasty brews, and fabulous atmosphere. This will be a regular stop for us. Just wish they had the awesome sample wooden boards!

First of all, don't go thinking this place will be cool in the heat of the summer! There is no a/c - stiffling hot inside even in the brewery. Secondly, the tour was a joke. Some guy yelling out some history of beer making which was clearly focused on the very young party types using phrasing of how he got "s****faced" here and blah blah blah - not professional at all and clearly did not care that his group was mostly 45+ in age. We couldn't hear much of anything. We were hoping they would explain what makes the different types and tastes of beer - guess I was hoping it would be like a winery tour. That was probably my first mistake. We walked out of the tour - had a couple of samples and gave our tickets to some people as we were leaving.

While taking a day trip to Alexandria, my friend and I decided to check out Port City and certainly did not regret it! The brewery is about a 15 minute drive from the waterfront area of Alexandria and is such a bargain! They have awesome beer and staff; for just $10 you get to see the facilities, hear about the brewing process, and try six, 6 oz Port City beers in addition to a fresh sample on the tour! It seemed like it would be a nice place to just hang out, too, even if you were not planning on doing the tour package. I would recommend eating before or planning on having a DD if you decide to enjoy all of the samples (which you should!) and are lightweights like my friend and I:)
