Historical site, arts and craft stores

I enjoyed learning about the historical events related to the Torpedo Factory. Today it houses many arts and crafts stores where you can meet and talk to the artists.

I visited in the evening and most of the galleries were open. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. It was two story area with a beautiful staircase with sculptures as the banister. All of the art appeared to be unique one of a kind pieces. I asked for the price of a necklace and was surprised to find it only... More

Lots of different shops, all different types of artists - it's nice to see them working. Fun to walk around. Also, some places to eat, which is nice as well. On the water, which again adds to atmosphere of the place!

the thing about Old Town Alexandria, even the artists' roosts here, is that they are just TOO manicured, and so you don't really feel like you're in an artsy/bohemian environment. It's honestly barely worth the time to visit here

If you like photography, painting, sculpture, pottery, glass work,...or artsy crafts of any kind, this is a nice place to check out in Alexandria. I really enjoyed most of the galleries. Although most people can't afford a 8000 dollar painting, most of the shops offer small samples that are more affordable for the common folk like me. :) I fell... More

Interesting to walk through. Individual art studios filled with a variety of art and hand work. Many studios have artists in residence that allow you to chat with the artist or watch them work. Takes about an hour to walk through maybe longer if you enjoy the work of local artisans.

One of my favorite spots in Old Towne Alexandria, the Torpedo Factory is a consortium of art spaces and artists from every genre. Jewelry, painting, sculpture , photography, art of all kinds. Buy something or just shop and watch the creative minds at work and play.

Love stopping in the galleries at the Torpedo Factory. We can always find something we're looking for and many that we weren't! Quality artists in this place.
