When visiting the Old Town Waterfront be sure to stop in the torpedo Factory. On any given day several artists are there in their Studios. It's very nice to stroll through the torpedo Factory and watch the artists at work.

Located in an old World War II torpedo factory, this place houses many local artists and their works. It is very interesting to see artworks, pottery and jewelry actually being made, and you can buy directly from the person who created the artwork.

The Torpedo Factory was a torpedo factory during World War II. For the past 30 years or so it has been a truly unique destination with splendid arts and crafts work galore. Many of the artists have been in residence for 15-20 years or more. We have bought beautiful artworks from this place. It is located right on the waterfront... More

The art center occupies a good solid block in Old Town. It's great to see so many local artists at their crafts in this building. You can watch the artists working; they will gladly share their views with a visitor. So much fun to visit this place.

I am always up to the challenge of being "wowed" by weird, awesome, colorful, spectacular, unbelievable and one of a kind artwork. Well, "The Torpedo Factory" offered so much of everything. The building itself, is a huge foundation layered in artwork. The artists are quite friendly and welcome you to come inside their domains to get close up and personal... More

Took a last minute trip with colleagues after work from out of state. Wasn't sure what to expect but worth a visit for local artists. Certainly something for everyone & walked away, unexpectedly, with some art that I adore! Plenty to see, right in the heart of the restaurant/entertainment district. Take at least 90 minutes to check out the 3... More

It's an interesting place to visit--the idea that it went from being a place where war materials were generated to a place where art is created is pretty neat. I like the displays on the history of the building, but most of the art is out of my price range. Fun to go window shopping though....

Not only the art from local artists high quality, but the setting on the Potomac river waterfront is a draw in itself. The entire family can enjoy the waterfront even if no one steps inside the building to see the various exhibitions. Family friendly food is there, as well as sit-down restaurants with views of river.
