Great guides and location - such a fun, relaxing experience. The guides take care of logistics for you (tubes, coolers, ice!) as well as transportation to the site (from Austin). They have dry bag rentals available and items for purchase on site (coozies, croakies, water, sunscreen, etc.) Once in the water, there is a guide at the front and one at the back to make sure you don't get separated (since you can leave valuables locked on the bus with the bus driver, the guides)- they will help you if you get stuck or flip. Definitely recommend as a fun day adventure, especially during the hot Austin summer months.

We had a great time on this river tour! Highly recommend. Booked the night before and great communication- very organized. They even had a small shop to pick up flip flops or sunglasses etc. Our tour guide was AARON and he was great. I don’t know how he kept us all wrangled because there are HUNDREDS of people doing various raft tours. It all worked out and we had a great time! Worth the $$ for the transportation, ease and coolers/ice. Great job! Keep crushing it!

We went with ATXcursions, Anthony and Jordan, and had a great float.
We met near IH-35 and Mariposa. You can park on the street. You bring your own drinks and food. The company locks valuables in the bus. Grab a float from the float mountain and head to the water. The company packs up the food and drinks in a cooler with a float. The people in our group were fun and nice to be around. Anthony and Jordan made sure we all got down the river and back to Austin safely.
Fun trip on a very hot day!

First time to Austin, and had a great time on the San Marcos with guides, Green and Cambo (Green, man... don't forget about Green Man brewery and the French Broad in Asheville, NC!!). Shout out to Deion our bus driver, too! Cool, helpful dudes. Beautiful river and a pretty smooth ride. (We went on a Friday... it was not crowded at all.) If you do get stuck, the guides are always there to help. Would book with these folks again. Keep up the good work.

Had a great time beating the heat and floating down the river all afternoon with friends. Perfect water temps, beautiful scenery, and tons of laughs. Thanks guys! Shoutout Kareem and the other guide with long hair — funniest duo I’ve met.

Great time with ATXcursions! Very organized, friendly service, you get what you pay for. We went on a Saturday with guides Addie & Brady. Super friendly & helpful. The river was busy so we had a few slowdowns, but will definitely float with them again!

Overall, a good experience. Fun to do with a large group, overall a bit tiring as we were out for over 6 hours, with about 3 hours on the San Marcos river. I do feel there was a lack informative communication (no safety tips, things to bring..in great detail).

So here are my tips:
- Water shoes I strongly suggest, flip flops ok but not great
- A towel to dry off after / change of clothes because a soggy ride home is not fun (there is only one bathroom when we got off the river, none at launching point)
- Food / drinks is a must. You are there for a really long time
- Hat and sunscreen is a must - and reapply, most people got burnt who didn't reapply.
- You can store sunscreen, flip flops and small things on the tube holding the cooler, but things will get wet.
- everyone's purses/cell phone/wallets get put into a locked box on the bus
- towels/change of clothes/socks/shoes can be left on the bus seats.
- You need to be confident in water, otherwise I suggest not going. Not because it's unsafe, but lack of safety tips, guidance on the water, often will float away from people and be alone. If you're ok with that, then it's a good time. Some people spent too much energy trying to paddle places, to get food, to meet friends etc. The current is strong, you can't really go against it. Never once did we hear what you should do if you lose your tube or fall in, at the end there was an empty tube, don't know where that person went?
- Several places in the river is very shallow, lift your butt in these places and all rapids, some of us got bruises. Just weird that it was never mentioned by guides.
- Several places in the river is deep where none of us could reach the bottom. Unknowingly we would get out of our tubes to go to the cooler, but almost have our heads under water. When 2 mins later there would be a shallow section. It would be nice if the guides knew/told us where would be good to get off or just wait until it's more shallow.
- Not sure if we were a large tour that day, but customers were self-assigned to be bartenders/tied to the coolers, so they had to hand out food/water to people. Seems like a bummer for that person in your group.
- They did hand out life vests to people who wanted them.
- Don't bring anything on the river you aren't willing to lose. On our tour we lost phones, hats, sunglasses. I disagree with the guides that said "bring whatever you want".
- A cell phone in a ziplock is ok, but never open it? That's how we lost one, someone opened it to take a photo. We also lost a ziplocked phone that fell to the bottom...so tie it to a string? For me, it's too hard to hold a drink and phone for 3 hours above water. Just leave it on the bus, or designate 1-2 people to have phones.
- Waterproof speaker would've been nice, kind of tedious after 3 hours if you don't have a large group.

The guides have a very cool, lax vibe of do what you want. But at the same time, when we passed them on the river, we didn't know if we should keep going, or wait for people. They say to just "go" in the river, do whatever you want. The only safety tip the guide mentioned was to "use common sense". Not for the type A personality who need reassurances. You just have to know what you're getting yourself into and be fine with others in your group being lax too.

That being said, would probably do this type of activity again. Maybe just not with this company 3.5 stars

I loved this meet up! So many like-minded people and the day was gorgeous! Kat and Karen were awesome. I was really happy that they were willing to chat and hang out with us and spend the time getting know me.
