Walked the street during the day and not much happening. Trucks parked in the street unloading alcohol at the bars, voodoo doughnuts was nice, but really just another street. But when the sun goes down, the street comes alive...bar after bar. I felt a bit...More

Giving this a low rating because it is not for me. So if are someone who enjoys or wants a night out on the town to drink and be around college age drinking individuals......go here! I was a little afraid to go into any locations...More

We went to sixth street twice on your trip and sorry to say but there are far too many homeless people begging on each corner. It gets annoying after a while. The street itself does have plenty of bars and restaurants but you are harassed...More

6th Street is party central to Austin as Bourbon Street is to NOLA, except that you’ll hear better music in Austin. (With 2 or 3 exceptions, like Fritzel’s, Preservation Hall, Bombay, you gotta get to Frenchmen for serious music in NOLA nowadays.) Esther’s Follies has...More

6th street is a lot of fun but can become overwhelming as the night goes on. If you like a quiet scene, I would visit earlier in the night, as the bars/clubs/streets tend to become very crowded as the hours pass. There are so many...More

This is a must visit for the area. Can be very crowded with drunk college students, but still worth the visit, just for the experience.

There is lots of action especially at night on the weekend. The street shuts down and there are lots of places to drink and party. There are restaurants as well.

Met family and wedding party and walked about 7 blocks along 6th street. Many clubs and noisy bars. Some historic markers and many pizza shops. Heard a bad accident and saw a flipped car on our return. Great weather and lots of interesting characters. A...More

I loved the old buildings in this area of bars, restaurants, live music, and people enjoying the festive atmosphere. If you don’t like crowds, avoid the weekends.

Maybe we were in the wrong place but there was not much to it, but there was this food truck area on 7th (I think) and we had this fabulous Jamaican food (again I think) but it had plantain in the food. Delicious!
