After the dusty, hot hustle and bustle of 6th street, the Driskill is that oasis you are longing for! Glide across the marble floors to the back and go up to the quite, cosy, cool and discreet bar. The service is impeccable as is the crowd. A true gem in the city!

I gave a negative review on this place as a hotel, but as a place to just go and explore, it is worth it. The building is beautiful. It was opened in 1886 and it was designed to be the fanciest hotel ever- and it still has a lot of the original charm. The lobby has a tall ceiling and... More

Everyone in Austin loves this hotel. It oozes Texas history. When you are in the lobby, you can feel the timeless Texas characters walking by you. It just feels and looks good! We have never been able to stay in any of the historic rooms--both busy and expensive! But the new tower rooms are good. The food here is outstanding.... More

As Austinites, we frequently enjoy this lovely city centered, historical hotel, with exceptional restaurant options, excellent service, and an exceptional fun lounge bar with life entertainment. Our guests are always left impressed.

This a a wondufullly beautiful hotel. The best Hotel lobby in all of Texas and perhaps one of the best in the US. Grab a pasry from the bakery and settle into the leather chairs and enjoy the paneled walls and art work. You can also order appetizers or have a drink in the bar. This is a really old... More

This hotel is the nicest in Austin, but 6th street can be noisy, sketchy and trashy. 6th Street is a drunk Bourbon Street, filled with UT kids The hotel is fantastic, but I am not a fan of 6th Street

The soul of downtown Austin. Historical, comfortable hotel. LBJ proposed marriage to Lady Bird in the restaurant. Like many older hotels it's said to be haunted. It's a little pricey but worth it if you love old, well cared for hotels.

Beautiful historic hotel!! So disappointed to have reserved a King Junior Suite at over $400/night only to find a queen bed rather than the requested King. Spoke with the manager, Matt, but unless we moved each night, he couldn't accommodate. No King Junior Suites for the first night even available. Wow, we had these reservations for several weeks. Great, he... More
