    WOW!!!
This was my favorite experience in Austin! What a beautiful hotel!!! All of the staff was very welcoming and friendly. The coffee shop was adorable and everything was beautiful and delicious! The bar and lounge open at 2pm- it would be a great place to have a glass of wine. I wish we stayed overnight!

    Great business stay
We were here for a business meeting and this hotel was fabulous. The hotel is very historic and well maintained. The rooms were clean and quiet. The meeting space was great as well. I can see why this hotel is a popular choice downtown.

    Drinks at The Driskell
Lovely historic building with beautiful stain glass windows. Dark wood in the bar surrounded by various Texan artifacts and culture. Great service and lovely cocktails. Would definitely consider staying here if we ever return to Austin.

There were several things that were disappointing about our trip here. I don't use elevators and requested a low level room in a quiet location and paid extra for a larger room. We were placed in one of the few rooms on the 2nd floor but it was right next to the extremely noisy cooling system for the hotel. I have no idea why there is a room in this location as you could hear it through the wall and very loudly in the corridor. We were then moved to a much smaller standard room on the 3rd floor which required us to go through the emergency stairs at the bar to get there. The soundproofing was poor and I had to call staff at night as a lady was shouting and singing in her room late at night - unfortunately she did not stop. I was given a credit for breakfast for moving room and the reduction in room rate but no further credit for a very noisy night. I chose the hotel for its central location but unfortunately the area did not feel safe and we used Uber to get around rather than walking. A number of unwell homeless people were near the hotel including a man lying in the road which was very sad to see. The bar is attractive and the building is lovely if a bit musty smelling. Breakfast is an odd system where you order at a counter and then food is delivered to you and our order was partially incorrect. The manager kindly got in contact after I completed a survey which is appreciated.

My husband booked this hotel for our anniversary. We were not impressed from the beginning. From the lobby to the 5th floor it was so dilapidated. Our view was of a building and the roof top of another building-the hotel was pretty empty so you would think they would put us in a room with somewhat of a view. The tiles on the ceiling throughout the hallways were all out of place. I understand it’s historic, but use this time with your limited amount of guests to renovate and improve your common areas and the rooms. The room was small, but was fairly nice. The bathroom was so small, even for just one person. If you’re looking for an updated, 4 star hotel look elsewhere & like other guests said-just stop in, admire the historic charm, & stay some place else.

I did not stay at the Driskill, but decided to check it out because of its historic status. It has an impressive Victorian facade, and cool glass domes in a lobby that feels like it dates back to the old West. But it's not that large or lavish and there's little to do except walk through, admire the decor and move on.

In keeping with the western theme here is mostly the bad and ugly. The F&B team, Andrew at the bar/lounge was great. We were given a room in the old part of the hotel, we were right above the ballroom, a wedding was in progress and went until 11pm, the room whole from the bass, we were not part of the wedding, poor planning on the front desk. I will say that Jake the FD assistant comped us one night due to the noise debacle. The last night of our stay, was also eventful, the person in the room above us left their shower on and the water overflowed into our bathroom! The staff was quick to respond and rectified the situation, the night mgr did offer us a comp breakfast, wish I would have asked for comp valet parking ($60) a night, the valets were great. Perhaps we are too old to appreciate the quirkiness of the old hotel, but I would not recommend staying here, unless you are willing to take some unexpected happenings.

Stop by for a drink from the bar and then take a peek throughout the hotel. It was built in the late 1800's and you almost feel like you are stepping back in time. Very cool to imagine what it must have been like. And... maybe you'll catch a glimpse of a ghost?!

Great historical place to visit, look through the lobby, and take pictures. We did not stay here but we ate at the 1886 Cafe one morning which is a "must-do" and we went to the upstairs bar one night which was really fun. Great Texan/Western Interior design with bronze statues, artwork, artifacts, plenty of interesting and different places to sit and congregate. Lively crown and classy atmosphere.

This hotel is a must see for the architecture alone. However, I'm not sure if I'd eat there again. We had breakfast one day at The Bakery at the Driskill, and I can only describe it as expensive chaos. We placed our order with the barrista, got a number, then discovered that there were absolutley no seats to be had. We ended up sharing a common table with four twenty somethings who spent the whole time complimenting each other on their selfies and voting on which ones to post. My American breakfast was mediocre. We also spent some time one evening at their famous bar, which is definitely worth a look for it's amazing architecture. Again, very pricey. One margarita, one beer and a bowl of truffle popcorn, set us back about $50.

Great hotel restaurant/bar. Bar bites are delicious and taste even better when paying the happy hour price. Drinks are made well and the service is friendly and outgoing. Staff does a great job of following COVID-19 guidelines.

Enjoyed staying at the Driskill for 3 nights following Christmas. Beautiful hotel with a ghostly past. We had No paranormal experiences but thoroughly enjoyed breakfast at the cafe every morning and loved the valet team, especially David. What a nice and happy group of guys even when extremely busy.

Not a review of the hotel, but the cafe. It is an odd little place where you stand in line to place your order for food, coffees, drinks, etc. After ordering you go find a seat and put a stick with your number on it - no rhyme or reason, but it works. Food was outstanding (eggs Benedict and all American of two eggs, bacon, toast). I don’t know how they do it, but server went right from kitchen counter to our table without having to look around for us (my wife watched). Definitely worth a morning meal.
