Wasn't sure what to expect when my friends wanted to check out The White Horse. It was actually very fun. If you are expecting something fancy, move along. But, if you like a down to earth spot to drink a domestic beer and enjoy some good music, this is the place. Our group had so much fun we closed the... More

Walked in to the place, at 5:30pm or so. Was dark, dingy, drab, and smelled like an old old bar. Unless it was hidden behind the curtain we saw, the dance floor was small. In reality...it seemed run down. And doesn't seem to be in to great a part of town. Guess we're just used to the "country scene" in... More

We happened across the White Horse the first night out in Austin, and we loved it. We met "Frazier" the bartender, and he was very cool. The live band started at 11p, and things picked up from there. We would for sure hit this spot again in the future.

We came here three times during our stay in Austin. It's a plain, old-fashioned bar, just how I imagined a honky tonk would be. We got dance lessons at 7:00 on two nights, Cajun two step one night and east coast swing on the other. Each night had a few different bands, and one night Junior Brown played. I understand... More

Great live music and easily accessible bar for a Saturday night in Austin. Had a great time here with friends!

One of my favorite bars! Nightly live music, old Texas feel inside, lots of dancing and variety in music, best food truck outside ( I HIGHLY recommend the pulled pork burrito with everything)!

Visiting a cousin who brought me here after dinner. Apparently this is a mainstay of the 6th/7th Avenue happening scene. Even on a Tuesday night there was dancing and live music. Dance lessons at 8 (two step, Texas swing) and live music at 9. What you would expect from a bar (dim lighting, grungy bathrooms) but somethings you might not... More

My Austin based friend took me here after a day of riding around town. Perfect way to end the day. This place has everything you want in a Texas honky tonk. The bar is incredible and out back there is a fitting pool table and outdoor space that was relaxing. Unfortunately it was earlier in the evening so no live... More

I would think the only reason people that aren't local would come here is for the 2 Step lessons. It was very interactive and you were partnered with multiple people, yes strangers! Fun place to dance or watch people dance. Bar is a bar - dimly lit, old place.

We arrived at the white horse which was a very nice place, playing live bands of some local music which was pleasantly received. However we went outside to order food from the vendor outside and numerous errors really ruined the experience for us. The chap behind the counter couldn't really speak English very well (which is not the end of... More
