Nobody I've ever sent there didn't come back smiling. Lots of terrific restaurants. I mean excellent. Best burgers in Austin to be had there. And unique store-windows, for Texas shopping.

Once upon a time, SoCo was a quirky and interesting place to shop, eat, and people-watch. Now, it’s crowded—tons of tourists doing their best to “keep Austin weird” even though it has t really been weird for a long time. Speaking of a long time—...More

SoCo was very eclectic but not what we expected. The shops were funky and the restaurants were good but it would not be my first pick for a destination to walk about if I only had one day in Austin.

South Congress is the best street to walk in Austin! There are restaurants, pub, live music, street performers, food trucks, and shopping. Botticelli’s is one of the best Italian restaurants. Guerro’s is a fun TexMex place. If you want to skip a restaurant, there are...More

Arrived in the SoCo area on a Saturday afternoon. This area was full of eateries/bars, shops, and food trucks. Lots of folks out and about. Greatly enjoyed visiting Guero's for lunch & music at The Oak Garden stage. The Continental Lounge provided some great music...More

This is a vibrant area in South Austin characterised by individual, quirky shops and some great restaurants. There is also an abundance of great 50s style neon signs and artwork on the sides of buildings. The shops sell everything from vintage clothes, unusual items, encrusted...More

Google UT buses to SoCo and you will see what is available. It will depend on if classes are in session. The buses will give you pick up spots and drop off places. The time to arrive can be anytime over 40 minutes to 50... More

Parking is very hard to find. You may have to park down the street and walk. If you are staying downtown, take a cab (I believe Uber is being discontinued in Austin). Getting there early in the day is better for parking... More
