Bass is a great place to see events. We enjoyed the play this time but they offer many types of events. It is large but well run. I would give more stars but parking and traffic were predictably awful. The facility is excellent.

I guess I can tell a story here. I played piano for the grand opening of Bass Concert Hall in 1981. The featured guest was the great Russian dancer/defector to America, Mikhail Baryshnikov. He was supposed to dance on stage, but when he arrived, he complained of having a back injury, and couldn't dance! Instead, that evening, he came over to my piano, and said he would sing and do some tap dance, much to the delight of several hundred people!! It was a beautiful evening outside on the terrace!
Bass Concert Hall is the flagship theatre of Texas Performing Arts, and is the largest in Austin, with seating for 2,900. Over the years, so many great performances have come through to large audiences. Last year I saw Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter give a sold out concert. I have to commend the front staff, and great backstage technical and stage crew. Just this year I have been pianist to two national Broadway tours, including "Beautiful, the Carol King Musical" and "Something Rotten!" and these are high class, state of the art shows, and it's a privilege to work in such a sophisticated and professional setting. You can always be assured that any show at the Bass Concert Hall will be high caliber, and some of the best you will ever see, in Texas, or anywhere else, for that matter! Book your tickets early!

We decided to go for it and bought season tickets for the Broadway shows in Austin for 2016-2017 season. The best seats we could get were second row balcony. I was surprised nothing was available in the orchestra section, but we settled.

Newsies was the first production and it was really good. However the view and acoustics in the balcony were a little less than perfect. We had seen Wicked last year and knew the sound and view was much better in the orchestra seats.

We decided it was time to look for better seats. There was no problem with moving down for most of the season. Same night and time performance, just different seats for each upcoming show.

We really like Bass Hall, only issue is the Women's restroom are always packed at intermission. One tip head up stairs two levels up there is only women's restrooms, no men's.

Parking can be a pain, just arrive early and get in the Manor Garage. It's the closest parking structure.

We have been coming the Broadway Across America/Austin here for many years. We have wonderful experiences WHILE we are IN the facility. I do not know what they are trying to do with exiting the parking garage, but it ruins the entire day. There is going to be an accident or major road rage in that place. Ever since they have added parking attendants to help with exiting the garage, it takes so much longer. All they have done is create insane gridlock. Where it used to take us 15 min max to get out it now takes up to an hour. My husband has threatened me with not renewing our season tickets it is THAT bad.

Great place to see a show!! We have been to two shows here now and have had a great time at both. They offer drinks and snacks that you're not supposed to take into the show but people did anyway. We have sat on the main floor and in the center of the first balcony and both views were good. The restrooms were clean but the lines were insane! If you can skip going, you should! We valet parked for $21 and another $20 to keep our car close by. (My husband made that decision-I'm too cheap to do that!) After the show, the valets were just giving the keys out and telling people where to find their cars. I would have been mad if I paid $21 to be told to go get my car from the parking garage. We found out you can prepay to park for $6 if you don't mind walking about a block. Overall, we will go here again and just be smarter about parking next time.

The staff told me the floor seating was recently updated to allow more space between the seats. We were in Row T and there was definitely a nice amount of room in front of us. The wheel chair accessible row is S and it looked to be there was even more room there.

We had a good view of the stage and the sound was incredible.

My adult kids sat in the first balcony - think it was row J and they texted me photos- there was NO room between their knees and the balcony wall.So they had to keep standing up every time the kids next to them needed to get out- which apparently was every 30 seconds.

Our friends sat in the 2nd balcony way on the side (A-H) and they said it was the worst experience getting to their seats- almost like climbing down switchbacks. But once they were seated the view was great.

There is always a long long line for the ladies rooms. So a tip is to go to the south exit and go down the stairs into the UT building and use their rest rooms.

I went with my two teenage daughters to see the sound of music. The theater is huge and there's not a bad seat in the house. We sat on the first balcony first row and it was perfect. I have also sat on the floor for other events and wonderful seats and the second balcony and they're still good seats. It's great to use binoculars when at the top. I love that in this theater they serve food and drinks, and drinks can be taken into the theater.

I have been here on many occasions; at least a couple of times a year. I have been to several concerts here, seen comedians, attended show from Broadway-on-the-Road, and many other interesting events.

If you enjoy good music and good theater, I would recommend you become a supporting member of the Texas Performing Arts. This way you get package deals and advanced notice on future performances.

TIP: Park in the San Jacinto parking garage. Upon entering, come back around and park on the lower level by the exit. This makes it very easy to enter and level this venue and the west entrance to the hall is only a block away.

My teen daughter and I had previously tried to see Hamilton in another city and had a bad experience with bogus tickets and did not get into the theater.(Saenger in New Orleans). I spent three hours in a virtual waiting room and scored tickets to this show and picked them up at Will Call without a hitch. Almost cried when we actually got into the venue. The place is huge! Our seats were in top balcony nosebleed but still awesome. We could see and hear everything fine. This show had a theater in the round which really added to the experience. Well placed bathrooms, overpriced wine. Seats were comfortable and even though there were probably 3k people in there it didn't feel claustrophobic. We got a seat in waiting area and my daughter drew on a large wall board. There was such a positive vibe the night we were there. Maybe it was the show we saw. I would certainly say I would come again in the future. Flew from Florida to see this thing. Thank you Bass Concert Hall!

First time at Bass.
Easy garage parking with pre-paid pass. 3 minute walk to Hall, convenient in 97 degree temps. Easily avoided traffic on the way out.
Bass itself was a great venue for the show. Not enough bathrooms, though, for women AND men (for a change). Long lines on all floors even as intermission was ending.
Overall a very good experience.
Hamilton the show gets 20 stars, of course!
