There are a lot of theaters located all over the world that are far better than this one, but for a city the size of Austin, this one is very good. It is really 4 theaters in one, so it is critical to know where you are going in advance. The parking lot attendant made a big deal of that point. Evidently some people get lost, but it is not all that large of a complex!
As for the theater we were in, the location of all the seats were all great! Your are close to the stage, and it is very intimate experience. In fact, an excellent theater experience all around. We were impressed with the quality of the sound and the lighting. The bar is reasonably fast for service at the intermission.
Seats are comfortable and easy to find. The parking is available in lots and on the street. The lots are very well lighted when you leave at night. As I said previously, a great experience all around!

I had a good seat, purchased by someone else, but I didn't see a *bad* seat in the house. Seats were comfortable and not squished together.
I appreciated the variety of refreshments before the show, with plenty for non-imbibers as well as drinkers, and loved the idea of ordering our interval drinks before the show. That eliminated lots of lines and frustration. Restrooms clean and well maintained.
The production of DAT's Cinderella was superb.

Zach Theatre is one of the finest regional theaters n the U.S. Michael Learned was here this month performing in Mothers & Sons and she gave the theatre high praise. As a volunteer usher, I often meet New Yorkers who come here because of Zach and the high quality of their performances. We're fortunate to have a lot of local talent in Austin but our excellent Artistic Director, Dave Steakly, also brings in talent from elsewhere.

I took my granddaughter with me to see this production last night and can honestly say that this was one of the best productions I have ever seen! The cast was wonderful. The songs were artfully crafted to fit in with the story line and had the audience rocking to the beat. We didn't want it to end. My only disappointment was not having a CD of the songs. If it had been offered I imagine they would have sold out. I hope that this becomes a yearly tradition as I would return in a heartbeat.

I’ve been attending shows st Zach for several years and have volunteered as well. Plays I’ve seen st Zach in some cases were better than what I’ve seen on Broadway. It’s a must if you enjoy theatre. Highly recommend Zach for all ages. They have shows for the entire family. The tickets are very reasonable and it’s a great night out.

And there is not a bad seat in the house. I've attended several different productions in a couple different theaters. They do such a good job and it is just an excellent experience. Highly recommended. Cost is reasonable enough to see something unique - try it, you'll probably love it.

Local theatre which produces a variety of entertaining and sometimes provocative plays. The new Topfer Theatre is an asset to the two original stages.

The new theatre is a true THEATRE...seeing a play especially a musical is a Broadway-type experience.....ever so much better than you get at the Performing Arts Center which is really a concert hall, NOT a theatre. The Topfer is beautiful, handicap friendly, beautiful bathrooms, lovely efficient bar areas...GO!!! Go, immediately.

My partner and I attended the season premiere of "A Christmas Carol" this week at the Topher Theatre. It was a really wonderful production with a very talented cast! I would highly recommend going to a production at the Zach during your stay in Austin. It is a beautiful venue with great production values in its art!

My wife and I were in town for the weekend and Goodnight Moon was at the theater. This was our kids favorite book growing up. We decided to go to the 11 am matinee. We were the only ones at the musical without kids there but it was phenomenal. The actors were outstanding and the theater is so nice. I would highly recommend the musical to anyone who enjoyed that book even if you aren’t with kids. We loved it.

Hi, can you dress up as performers for shows? ie; Hedwig & the angry inch
Written January 27, 2019
However you'd like. Some dress up; some don't, as with most theatres. They want you and they don't much care how you look.

I was wondering if you know about the Austin Film Festival in Oct., I think, as opposed to SXSW? Not sure which is the most fun to go to....don't really need all the music crowds for SXSW or is the time of year to go the main movie event? Thanks for any info. Have been to Sundance FF & many said go to Austin FF to me.
