With downtown Austin changing so much, and parts of it looking like Little Dallas, South Congress remains true to Austin's vibe.

Lots of interesting boutiques and food trucks. If you are not a fan of the heat, it is best to go when it is not too hot outdoors.

Unique area stores range from vintage to designer. Make sure when you have the time to look at the shops on both sides of the street and eat at one of the food trucks or restaurants.

You can spend days exploring. We allotted one afternoon, but decided to nix other plans and go back. Candy store, antiques, vintage clothing, fashion forward clothing, food galore, jewelry stores, and much, much more!

Whenever we have family or friends visiting, we take them down South Congress. Lots of amazing shops, a choice of restaurants, Amy's Ice Cream - what's not to like!

Shops of all kinds. Numerous places to eat. Good luck finding a parking space on the week-ends but it is worth the experience.

South Congress has welcomed the addition of some newer, trendy restaurants, some new and re-imagined shops, and of course a ubiquitous-in-Austin trailer ghetto on a corner lot, complete with a couple of very nice, new, boutique hotels, all giving this stretch of Austin's south main...More

We enjoyed spending the afternoon shopping on South Congress Avenue. Every store had something for everyone. We could have spent a few days walking up and down the street to all the shops. I would love to go back some day.

I recommend starting on 1st street, which is right by Lady Bird Lake and the "bat bridge" and walked north, which puts the Capitol directly in front of you. On your way, you'll see the downtown transformation from older buildings to the new skyscrapers popping...More

Uber is no longer active in Austin..cabs are easy to get. Another option is bicycle which are available near hotels. Get a 24 hrs pass.
