Great Fun for Kids.

West to Zilker Park on Wednesday and rode the Zilker Zephyr. 25 minute ride through the woods and two different tunnels. Kids loved it.

This train ride is extremely cute and well-done. Our child was maybe just s little too old though he enjoyed the tour of the park and some of the slightly exciting tunnels.

Our son is just getting to the age where he enjoys trains and amusement rides. We recently made a trip to Disneyland where he feel in love with Casey Jr. While I can assure you, this is by no means on that level of ride, he had fun all the same and this train ride does last around 20 minutes.... We took our 2 year old on this and it was the perfect length. It isn't covered so make sure you've got sunscreen and hats. Park near the Barton Springs Pool for ease of finding the station. The playground is fun nearby for before and after.

This kid's train is reasonably priced. It departs every 30 minutes, and is right next to the playground, Barton Springs entrance, and a little popsicle stand. The kids enjoyed playing and eating their frozen treats while waiting. The train is probably a 15 minute ride and goes quite a ways, over some cliffs, under a bridge, and around the park. We... More

Had a great time riding. $3 per adult, $2 per kid and 1 and under are free. It's about a 20 or 25 minute ride. Can get hot in some areas where it's not shaded. But it goes around a large portion of Zilker park including under a bridge right next to the water, thru the playground and in a... More

Parking can be crazy at Zilker park on the weekends. Also it's $5 to park on top of train tickets. My kid enjoyed the 15 minute ride and then we played on playground next to train depot.

My first advice would be try avoiding the weekends. Since that is almost impossible, build in plenty of time to find a parking spot! Like 1-2 hours. Zilker park is one of the most popular destinations in Austin. Couple that with summer popularity of Barton Springs and you're done for! Parking is very hard to find. Even a paid parking... More

The train ride was fun and entertaining for kids ill say 7 and under, the tricky part is finding where the station is so make sure you get off on the right parking lot if you don't want to be walking by the rails to figure out where the station is!

No better way to amuse the kids cheaply. Most normal adults love a short train ride too...as long as it isn't commuter rail to work. You catch it at the playground which is perfect.
