Austin Murder Walk

In the year 1885 America’s first serial killer stalked the streets and alleyways of the young, emerging city of Austin. More terrifying than any ghost story, this monster brutally and systematically hacked eight women to death using an ax. For one calendar year, he terrified a city and came to be known as the “midnight assassin”. He was never captured and his identity remains a mystery or does it...?

This tour is our longest at 1 hour 45 minutes and covers 2 miles of historic Austin including West 6th street, Guy Town, the Warehouse District and a drink stop at the iconic Driskill Hotel. The pace is leisurely and, in addition to a drink stop at the Driskill, (drinks not included), there are short rests along the journey.

Join us on this exceptional true crime walking tour investigating exact crime locations and the various theories surrounding the midnight assassin. It’s a “killer” tour.

The guide was very animated! It was really fun and entertaining. We didn’t see any specters but it was worth the money. I do wish the guide would wear a microphone though. It was often difficult to hear on the heavily trafficked streets and with such a large group.

10 out of 10 I would recommend the tour! Jim was very knowledgeable about the city and the murders. You can tell he enjoys doing this because of the energy he brought through the walk. He had cool pictures and was very thorough about all the stops we made. You also get to explore downtown Austin!

Jim was a great ghost tour guide. He made the experience a ton of fun. Nothing too creepy, but he has a magical way of telling stories and bringing history to life! I've lived in Austin for 16 years and I learned new things on this tour that I had never heard before! The walk was a perfect pace, there were plenty of stories and information, and we all enjoyed the evening, 4 of us participated - 3 adults and a teen - totally appropriate for all! You can tell that Jim loves Austin, loves these tales, and has done some great research! We highly recommend this tour!

Learning about the history of the buildings was informative and really sold the stories that go along with the hauntings associated with them. Our tour guide Jim is a very animated character who really drew our group in. Wear comfy shoes and enjoy the walk of downtown. You will see some spectacular spots.

This was our first activity ever in Austin. My husband and I had a blast getting to know Austin through it’s possibly Haunted locations. It was fun watching the interactions between our tour guide and the locals as to how “weird” Austin can be. Our Tour guide kept us laughing and learning along the way. We had a great time! Would definitely recommend to our friends.
