Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Austin and yet so close to the CBD. Interested wildlife, too.

Town Lake, now renamed Lady Bird Lake, is a gorgeous walk any time of the year. With a new boardwalk near IH-35, you are able to walk farther east and enjoy a more pastoral trail. Proximity to downtown, hotels and restaurants make it a delightful...More

Austin is a nice city, but thus feature makes it feel more friendly. You can run on the trail beside it, you can rent canoes and such to enjoy it directly. Highly recommended.

I absolutely love Town Lake. Everyone is active, running, biking, walking. Dogs are everywhere. Austin is very pet friendly.

This is one of the best things about Austin - the beautiful parks & trails. I prefer to walk Town Lake early in the morning before the sun gets up or the trails get too crowded.

Town Lake, AKA Ladybird Lake runs right through the center of Austin. The exodus of the bats at the Congress Street Bridge at dusk is a must see!

For swimming, definitely check out Barton Springs or Deep Eddy. I know paddleboarding is popular on Town Lake, and you can find rentals for paddleboards and kayaks.

Parking - Lots of it! Just depends on where you are staying or arriving along the 10 mile hike & bike trail around the lake. If east of IH-35, we suggest you Google the Austin Hostel and park near the lake on the south side... More
