Iconic Music Spot!

We visited here in while we were on holiday from the UK. My boyfriend Is a musician and he said we must go here, it didn't disappoint!
This is such an iconic music venue, and actually smaller than I thought. It holds a lot of history with who has played there. We got chatting the people on the table next to us who turned out to be the performers management, we got such a cool insight from this! I would definitely recommend anyone who loves live music to come here.

Rude!!!

Was there today (7.29.22), trying to get in at 4 pm when it was supposed to open. Knocked on the door at 4:06 (we were in about 100 degree heat outside). Some very rude guy opened the door, yelled "We're not ready yet," then slammed the door! Guess we'll give some other club our business and our money! Very unprofessional.

Small and intimate venue

Such a great spot! Definitely check it out. We went in a Sunday night for a country band and learned how to two-step by some kind locals. Great venue right in the heart of S Congress across from the Hotel San José!

Local live music every night

We saw Casper Rawls and Earl Poole Ball on a Thursday at six-thirty. No cover and reasonable drink prices. Both are in their 70s but have had big careers and can still play. Maybe only 40 seats and there were only a few left when they came on right at 630. Good size dance floor.

Great historical live music venue

The music, the staff, the atmosphere were great. If you are going to Austin for the live music you have to go here. The sound was well mixed and a great volume. The staff was very attentive. You can’t beat a place where the floor tile has worn through from all of the dancing over the years.

Classic Music Spot

This felt like a real classic Austin spot. It seemed to mostly be filled with out of towners, but the locals who were there also seemed to be enjoying the club. The music was great and definitely worth the $10 cash cover. A nice taste of the classic Austin music scene.

Great music

Spent a Saturday afternoon listening to Earl poole Ball and his band who were outstanding. No food, just drinks and limited seating. Dance floor and was fun to watch great dancers. No cover just tips. More music at night with a cover charge. Highly recommend this club!

One of the most iconic live music venues in the world... An Austin Texas original. Smaller in size, but quality musicians.
Multiple times throughout the day and night. Cover charges vary for different bands. Located in the ultra cool South Congress district of Austin.

Bright TV disrupts show

Good music but you are going to see a TV disrupting the show unless you are near the front. I have no idea why they feel they need to have a bright TV in a dark room when everyone is there to listen to music. I was also disappointed they refused to turn it off.

A landmark not only for South Congress but for the city of Austin

We decided to visit the Continental Club as several locals told us that we must see this place as it is a great authentic dive bar on South Congress street that draws in locals and visitors. The Continental Club has been an Austin fixture since 1957. It feels old and comfy, but in a good way. The Continental Club is much smaller than I expected it to be. Lots of great bands and artists play here. This famous club is always packed, as the choices are great no matter what the night. It’s usually hard to get there in enough time to get a seat but fun to stand or dance. The Cover charge is not too steep. The band was not very good the night we were there ($7 pp cover charge). Beer prices here were $5, which I though were quite reasonable for this area. I do not believe they serve food, but there are a ton of cute eateries right in the area. Try not to think about the gross condition of the bathrooms—you came here for the awesome music. Glad I got to visit this legendary club. We walked back to four seasons hotel where we were staying, as it was only a 20-minute walk.
