You can’t miss this horseback ride of Palo Duro!
This experience could not have been better! We had a thorough instruction before our ride and the guides picked a horse that was well suited for each rider and their experience. We had a 4 year old ride with our group and Allison and Melissa were so wonderful! They not only helped tell us about the canyon but really added to the enjoyment of the ride. We did the 2 hour 9:30 am ride and it was such an incredible way to see Palo Duro. The landscape was so interesting and we got lucky with great weather. I will definitely do another ride here l!

    Awesome Horseback riding experience
First time horseback riding like this and totally enjoyed the experience. Bailey and Sabine made this an awesome time. We’ll be back again and hope to bring our grandkids. Recommend this to anyone who has time when passing through Amarillo.

    Horses make my heart happy
My Grandson and I did a 2 hour ride. Bailey and Sabine were fun and knowledgeable wranglers. The horses were well behaved and the trail was fun. I’m an experienced rider and my grandson is a novice. They matched us to our horses perfectly.

    Perfect Family Ride
The views and guides were unmatched. Horses were well trained and easy riding, with a great mix of terrain. Sabine and Alison were our guides and they knew the horses and area really well - this led to them matching adults and kids with the perfect horses. We would highly recommend this - bonus tip is to get the early ride and catch a bit of that Texas sunrise before the heat hits! The two hour tour was perfect for our group, our 8 year old had no problem with the length of the ride.

    Amazing early morning ride
This experience was truly amazing. Melissa and Alison really did a great job of guiding us to the edge of the canyon. Horses were very healthy and beautiful. This is so much better than your typical trail rides and we picked the perfect time to go. Early 7:30am trip, gave us the opportunity to see the sunrise, an early morning mule deer, and beautiful weather. Thanks again and we will be back

    Horseback Ride at its Best
We're on a three week road trip and decided to go through Amarillo so we could visit Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West for an early morning guided horseback ride. After some explanation and lessons, I was up on a horse by myself for the first time ever. I'll admit, it was higher up than I was expecting and I was a little nervous knowing that Scout has a mind of his own. But Melissa and Bailey were so professional and knowledgeable that I felt like we were all in good hands. The initial jitters quickly wore off with the confidence that our wranglers inspired. The trip to the canyon was scenic and the weather was perfect, couldn't have asked for better. We were even fortunate enough to see a coyote pup! The two hours flew by and we were back in time for the next trip. Melissa and Bailey certainly know what they're doing keeping all the horses, with their novice riders, on track and on time. Very impressive. This experience was well worth the money and when we're back in Amarillo, I'll book another trip. Thank you!

    Amazing experience
The ride was beautiful and went very smoothly. The horse I rode, Rio, was a wonderful horse for myself (I’ve only ridden during vacation) Absolutely LOVED Melissa and Sabine as our guides! They were experts and extremely knowledgeable and very kind. They made everyone feel comfortable! Would definitely recommend to all of my friends and family.

    Just do it!!!
Our last stop in Amarillo was a beautiful horseback ride to the Palo Duro Canyon (2nd largest to the Grand Canyon). The wranglers at this ranch are amazing. They were great with Charlotte, my 3 year old. My 9 year old had so much fun with his horse “chance”. 👏 My 13 year old always loves riding. She’s a natural. I was worried about it being too hot but there was a really nice breeze. We had a great time!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Melissa rode the buddy saddle with my 3 year old and did fabulous! She was so sweet to her. Allison and Bailey were awesome as well. Wrangler Ben was pretty cool too! 😉

    Great experience
Our family thoroughly enjoyed this experience. We took a 2 hour horseback ride with Bailey and Sabine. Bailey was a great leader and our 5 year old rode with Sabine, who took great care of him. The history lesson about the canyon was interesting and we saw quite a bit of wildlife. I highly recommend this experience.

Our family made a 5000 mile round trip to the west, visiting national parks and drinking in the new and exciting sights. Our one splurge was at cowgirls and cowboys in Amarillo, Texas where our whole family of 9 was accommodated on beautiful horses for a trail ride around the canyon rim. Madison, Peyton and Braydon all did a great job and made us feel very comfortable—even the few of us who had never ridden before! My three year old rode behind one of the guides and loved it; my timid seven year old had no problem with the horse they chose for him, and the rest still talk about their horses wishing they could HAVE them somehow! Lol from 3 to 23 our kids were ALL happy and not many activities can span that big of an age group! Thnx for the wonderful adventure!

Being that myself or my fiance had no riding experience we were nervous about getting on a horse for two hours but Dani and Lauren were absolutely amazing! They were able to pair everyone up with a horse that fit everyone's personality. They were extremely professional and accommodating. We absolutely loved learning about all the history of the canyon and experiencing the beautiful views!
Lauren even got down off her horse to catch a horny toad so everyone could see it. I would 100% recommend this to anyone and it's perfect if you have no riding experience.

If you're looking for the best riding experience up in the Texas panhandle, this is the place to go. My friend and I were camping at Palo Duro Canyon State Park and had originally signed up for a morning ride, but when a storm came in the owner called us and moved us to the sunset ride free of charge, which actually worked better for us anyway. Cowboys and Cowgirls in the West offered a longer ride than the stables in the park for the same price , and you ride along the canyon rim so you get equally spectacular views. Our guides (Lauren, Madison, and Wyatt) were all friendly and knowledgeable, and taught us a lot of cool history about the cowboys and native american tribes that used to live in the area. I really enjoyed chatting with them as we rode, and they were also great about taking photos for us. They also encouraged us to spread out and take some side trails if we felt comfortable which, as a somewhat experienced rider, made the trip a lot more fun for me! Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're looking to ride around Palo Duro/Amarillo, and would absolutely come back!

We recently visited Palo Duro Canyon and booked a horseback ride through Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West. We had an awesome experience. Brooke and Braydon led our group, and extra care was provided for my 78 year old mother that rode with us. The experience was everything that we were hoping it would be!

We had a couple of experienced riders with us, a couple of inexperienced riders, and two riders at 78 and 80 years old. Everyone had a great time.

Brooke and Braydon narrated with local history, and coached the group at some of the more challenging parts of the trail to where everyone felt comfortable.

I highly recommend them.

I originally was scheduled for a sunset ride because I was coming from Albuquerque and then due to Mother Nature heavy rain was in the forecast. Phylis called me and moved the ride to 12 and even though I was 20 minutes late due to traffic I was still able to get on a ride. The guides (Lauren, Madison, & Brayden) were all very nice and made the afternoon really enjoyable. If you want a fun way to spend a few hours in Amarillo then look no further than Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West! I’ve ridden horses in several different places around the United States and the experience here beats them all! You have the ability to not walk nose to take with each horse and instead just wander along the trail while staying close to the group. A very authentic, fun, and beautiful way to see the Wild West.

I just had a great experience with the Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West. I went on a 2 hour ride with 6 others and since they were all inexperienced I enjoyed the ride more as an observer as I've been riding since I was quite young. Brayden and Sierra handled everyone really well and made even those that had never ridden before comfortable. I went back for a private twilight ride 2 days later and it was truly enjoyable. Brayden is the real deal....a real Cowgirl that works hard, knows her horses and has a winning personality. We rode on the rimrock of the canyon and since we'd both studied a bit of history discussed what had happened there and for someone so young Brayden knew quite a bit. We witnessed some of the wildlife on the rim and as far as I'm concerned was a truly enjoyable experience. I would hardily recommend this to anyone at any experience level for a leisurely step back in time. Brayden has some lofty goals and I'm sure she'll achieve great things.

This horseback ride was the highlight of my time in The Panhandle. The wranglers were so knowledgeable and patient as I’m a little scared of horses. They stopped and warned us in areas where the horses were liable to trot and go faster and the trail was steeper. They encouraged us to “get off the trail” as long as we were in sight which I thought was cool. The horses were well trained and beautiful. The terrain was perfectly rugged. Lauren and Kensley were the wranglers and they were so sweet and helpful but didn’t make us feel inept in horseback riding. I highly highly recommend Cowboys and Cowgirls in the Wear to anyone and everyone. Also they were covid conscience and wore masks when appropriate. GO FOR IT!!!

We booked an hour ride which is plenty for folks that have not ridden in awhile. Phylis the woman in charge doesn’t play with start times which I greatly appreciated. When you book the ride you’re emailed instructions, follow them to the letter and you will have no issues. A person from the other family on our ride was late per the instructions and was excluded from our ride. Danielle and Madison were our tour guides and both were a delight. These ladies are working hard to put themselves through college and were knowledgeable about the history of Palo Duro Canyon. They interacted with each guest, talked about the wildlife, and took pictures of each guest in this spectacular setting that will certainly be keepers for Instagram or the photo book. They even dismounted during the ride to catch a horny toad they spotted and showed this unique creature to each rider. This was our first activity for our vacation and got things off to a great start!

We had a great time with Dani and Brayden on the first ride of the morning. Although we had some experience in riding, they were so accommodating to all levels of riders within our group. They were knowledgeable and very down to earth. Despite Roy and Tono having their own agendas, they were great horses! I was glad that I wore jeans and a long sleeve shirt- kept me from getting scraped by the brush now and then. I would recommend Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West to anyone, singles, couples and families. Great company and I will return the next time I am in Amarillo.

This was my FAVORITE riding experience! Dani and Lauren were fabulous, and the views were spectacular! We learned a good deal about the history of the canyon, saw lots of wild life (including the most exciting spotting- a “horny” toad!) and got a perfect lunch recommendation! The two hour ride was perfect to see so much. Our two horses were matched perfectly to us, and I could seriously just keep raving. I absolutely cannot recommend Cowgirls and Cowboys in the West highly enough!
