    $1 admission day
My kids and I visited the discovery center on Black Friday when they offered $1 admission. We really enjoyed the experience. The highlights for us were the live animals, the giant foam building blocks, the rolling slide, the giant light writer, the weather forecast exhibit, and the outdoor musical instruments. If we had paid for the full admission price, I would have been disappointed because there were areas that need to be repaired or replaced. Several of the animal exhibits were empty, and some of the items and displays lacked sufficient explanation about what they were and why they were significant.

    Best for Younger Patrons
Though everyone can learn something, this small science museum that looks geared for youngsters. The format is a circle with different exhibits from butterflies in a maze to electricity. ASTC membership provides free entry.

    Great family fun
We went as a family group consisting of adult down to 2 years old. The children really enjoyed the many hands-on activities. It was a pleasant surprise to see they had live animals to learn about as well. I would recommend this to any families with small to pre-teens.

    Not worth your money
I was a membership holder, but quickly realized how poorly run and kept up is this "Discovery Center." I did let my membership run out. Not like I ever got a reminder to renew or a "hey we miss you, come on back." Don't get me wrong, the first time you visit, you'll love it. Its new. Its exciting (by Amarillo standards). By the next visit, you see it for what it is. A underfunded venture that has a ton of underused space EVEN DURING NEW EXHIBITS. New exhibits don't stay new long. They break or pieces go missing and not fixed or replaced. Again, goes back to what I said about being poorly kept up. And let's talk about their special event days. They had a Harry Potter day in 2019. The special areas were set up in cramped spaces with Im guessing were volunteers who were massively overwhelmed. My son and I just watched what other guests were doing because the volunteers sure weren't explaining things. Then in the potions area, my son couldnt take part in the activity due to them running put of whatever it was that was needed to actually do the activity. And this was literally one hour after the place opened. Again, goes back to what I said about being poorly run. Anyway, I gladly have not gone back since. I happily make a day trip to the Science Center in Lubbock with my son instead. *It doesnt give me a date for my last visit which was in 2019. So ignore the February 2021. They don't give me the correct option to choose, so I'll choose whatever option I please.
Hello! I apologize for the delay in response to your feedback. We have made some big changes in leadership and in planning over the last year. We heard the response from the community and have been actively working towards adding freshness to our facility and our staff. Since 2019 we have added an outdoor park, added some fun new exhibits, and are in the works of repairing and renewing much of the facility. Thank you for helping us improve with your feedback. - The Discovery Center Team

    Great experience!
We visited the center on a rainy morning with 4 kids ages 5-9 and all of them had lots of fun (as did we). The new display (Run!Jump!Fly!) was awesome, the kids loved trying some new things (Yoga, snowbording, KongFu and more) as well as stamping the activities. Lots of educational activities, opportunities to be creative and curious. We entered to watch a movie - the planetarium screen was great - and it came out to be about tornados. Interesting for the adults - a bit less for our young kids, but still they made it until the end. The kids would have stayed much longer than several hours we spend there if we let them... Overall - a great place to spend at least half a day!

indoor hands on science park and omni dome theatre 4 all ages
Kids love this place and will stay occupied all day plus learn alot. What more could a parent ask for. This is a hidden gem in Amarillo. They have a dome theatre that show several short movies a day(long enough to be educational, short enough to keep the attention of even the youngest visiter). My favorite though was the 3PM Fantacy Lights Show. This is the last show of the day and well worth the wait. Absolutely Fabulous!!!! I can't wait to go back again because there is sooo much to see and do u might not get it all in 1 visit. Students and seniors get a discount off the very inexpensive admission. 2 and under are free. I wish military was included for the discount, though. Annual memberships are available. This place is great for the hot days and "bored" kid syndrome!!!!!!!!! Great family activity-you will have just as much fun as the kids-if not more!!!!!!!!!!!

    Science Stuff! Lots!
Are you in Amarillo? Sorry. Still, need a cool educational spot to learn the kids (and adults) something? Go to the DH Discovery Center! Well-done science exhibits, interactive play and activity areas, and more surprises make for a great place to hang out.

    Great place for kids
great place to take children to play and explore! hands on displays....lots to do including a 3D movie. good place to take an active child without having to say "Don't touch that" or "Put that down" The price was reasonable and our 2 year old son had a blast "exploring" all of the displays and interacting with the other children.

    Fun for kids and adults!
This place is great! I think its kind of expensive, especially since you have to pay extra to watch a movie in the planetarium. If you can get the family membership its def a great deal! You can use it to go to other family museums in the USA. My husband and I even enjoy learning and playing with things here.

The Discovery Center is really for kids, & anyone taking kids would have a great time, but we enjoyed it all by ourselves. The exhibits are interesting and of course child-friendly, the admittance fee covers everything... it was a nice experience.

I was fortunate enough to arrive right on time for the two 4D shows! Monster of the sea was good! best part is that the movies are included in your ticket price... i paid 7 dollars for student admission! totally worth it! There is a little dinosaur display which was fairly decent. But the best part is the interactive games or challenges that you can do with friend and family. There is also a area where you can get in touch w/ your child side and play with bubbles! haha definitely a good place to bring you children or friends that are open to different things!! =) There is a lot to do.. by the time i checked my watch i was already 3 hrs in! Do enjoy!!

I have a membership with them; but have never been to the facility. They are a part of the museum consortium that allow members the same privileges at other museums across the country. I do intent to go someday.
