Walked around here during a brief stay in AMA last month. It was cold out, and there was almost no one at the zoo, some things were closed there at the zoo (like food concession, a building, etc) and it was very quiet. But the...More

This is a small zoo that takes about an hour or less to see. They have three lions and a couple of tigers, but that is about the extent of exotic large mammals. There are a few hills but they are not too steep and...More

We were actually on our way to Palo Duro Canyon, but they had decided at the last minute to close down and repair roads, so we ended up at the Zoo. We were glad that we did. It was 6.00 for three adults and a...More

Spent about 2 hours the Amarillo Zoo during the Labor Day Holiday. The highlights were the 3 lions and 2 tigers. The zoo is small but has its own character. Some of the exhibits could use some updating so that the animals had more enrichment.

We took two of our granddaughters to this zoo this summer. It was nice for two small children to look at the animals. Not a very big zoo but ok.

Hi Loretta - Yes, we are small but a great size for families with small children. Be sure to check out our special event calendar on our website. BOO at the Zoo is coming up in October - this is a real family favorite!

We have taken our family here several times. We love the fact that the animals are so much closer than a big Zoo. It seems like you can enjoy the animals better because you are closer to tham.

Glad you had a nice visit. The animals are usually more active in the morning but with the warm temperatures they are spending a lot of time napping in the shade.
