This place is not for everyone. You can pitch tent on rugged West Texas ranch land for $7 per person per night. You can have a campfire , bring your own wood, which is strictly prohibited in Big Bend. You can take a 4 minute shower in a plywood shower which beats anything else you will find other than a... If you like remote, out-of-the-way places and don't need all of today's modern conveniences to be happy, then this is the place for you. Relaxed, unhurried and fairly basic. The little museum is really interesting. Hallie Stillwell was an amazing woman. A few miles outside Big Bend park, this place is quiet and very dark at night. A good place... More

Finally stayed here as most campsites in the national park were taken and we planned a very early hike in the park the next day. We had a great experience with the sunset view, night sky and absolute quiet at our site. Also nice trip to La Linda bridge on the border. Store has a good feel and shaded porch.

This little museum complex provides a very good overview of the area and history of the region. It's really worth the time to visit.

Hallie Stillwell was a strong pioneer. The place is not for all but if you have followed her life story, it will be worth the stop. The store handed us the keys to the museum & said turn the lights off when you leave! Very relaxed atmosphere. Do not know how she survived her but also thrived & became a... More

Hallie`s Hall of Fame offers a great story of a strong woman of the Texas frontier. The Stillwell Store was a good place to buy an ice cream bar on our way to Big Bend National Park. We did not stay at the RV park, however if you want an out of the way place and base from which to... More

This is near the north eastern gate into the park. There are 6 to 8 sites outside the front of the store that have covered picnic tables and full hookups. I believe the rest of the park to the side of the store have full hookups but not sure about the picnic tables. This is a great place to camp... More

The personal and office had much to be desired. The grounds themselves were not very well groomed. It was toward the "end of the season" we were told and things were being shut down? There was one other rv there. It was close to the entrance of Big Bend and had full hook up, so it worked for us. The... More

We stayed at the Stillwell rv park and this museum is on the property. It's great. You could probably spend a lot of time here. There are many items to look over. What a great woman.
