About
Welcome to the Award Winning Anderson County Museum! Our 12,000 square foot gallery offers inspiration and innovation experiences through our collections, exhibits, programs and events. We engage visitors with our artifact-driven approach in galleries that are not static, but offer new and exciting exhibits, events, and programs monthly. For more than 35 years we have told the stories of Anderson County and South Carolina. These stories educate visitors on the local, regional, and national significance our rich history proclaims. As a museum with more than 25,000 artifacts, our permanent exhibits are always changing. New temporary exhibits are presented quarterly as we collect, preserve and interpret objects in the ACM collection.

The Anderson County Museum was an unexpected "find" on our trip through the area. It is charming, well laid out, and full of beautiful exhibits. We spent about two hours there and could've stayed longer except we needed to be on our way elsewhere. And it's free (donations gratefully accepted.)

This is a great small town museum! Tons of information and exhibits. Every time we go, it seems they have something new to explore! Plus, it's FREE admission! They also have a ton of activities for kids and adults alike throughout the year. I encourage everyone, especially locals, to go visit!

For a small town museum, this place is great. First of all it is FREE!!! There is a lot of great artifacts from civil and revolutionary war. There are some good exhibits on the history of the Electric City and the schools of Anderson. If you have an hour or two, you should definitely check out the museum.

I believe this is the largest county museum in the state. Very nice displays with continuous upgrades. A good military display and more is to come in the next few months. Admission if free although donations are appreciated. Also have a good gift shop with some interesting history books available.

3rd grade field trip. So many historical exhibits hit the 3rd grade standards. Beautiful displays, so much information. Nice gift shop focused on South Carolina. Great free way to spend your time. Mistletoe Market in November for Christmas shopping featuring artisans from nc, sc, and georgia.

I think alot of the people in & around the area take this place for granted. You might expect to come in for 5 minutes, and be done. But actually there's alot to see and do here. I can imagine if you take a sincere interest. You could actually spend an hour or more here. There's games for kids inside, and plenty of great history. And as far as I can tell, taken photos are fine. And I have included a few. Let me know what you think.
Restrooms are also insde. So if you are in the area, stop on in.....it's FREE** And well worth your time. I am glad we did.
