we've stopped here twice and both times it has been closed. the first time it said open but no one there. second time we couldn't get appt until next day. the third time is not the charm. we really wanted to see inside this museum but i don't think we'll be stopping again.

The owner of the house/museum is remarkably knowledgeable about the history and legends related to Halloween, as well as about the artists that created many of the works. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and were pleasantly surprised by the variety and depth of the collections. At the end of the tour the hosts gave us the most delicious homemade cookies I've ever had.

A little hard to find but well worth it. Follow your GPS directions-it's on a one way street. Must call to set up appointment for a private tour of the Halloween Queen's home. Filled up to the rafters with Halloween memorabilia. Pamela, the Halloween Queen, took us a tour of four through 2 floors of everything Halloween. It took about 2 hours. If you don't see everything during the tour-she will let you look around the first floor afterwards but not the second so really look around the second floor while you're up there. Each room had a different theme-Halloween artwork-so neat!, Skeleton/Day of the dead room, Music room-Halloween themed music makers (tamborines), costumes room, pumpkin room, Halloween related games, Halloween themed products, Harry Potter room, Nightmare Before Christmas room, etc. Big Halloween characters that speak and move throughout. If you love Halloween like I do then I highly recommend going. I was smiling ear to ear through the whole tour (and slightly envious). I do not recommend taking small children-too many breakable things and they will get bored. She did have a few shelves of items for sale but they were out of my price range. Nothing much under $20-I did buy 2 Halloween hats. Wish she had some reproduction post cards or reproduction items to buy but she really isn't there to sell things. She just has had a passion for Halloween since childhood. So glad she allows us to see her collection. See it while you can.

Pamela Apkarian-Russell is THE authority on Halloween history and collectibles. However, her multiple books on the subject do little justice to her actual collection, which numbers in the thousands (maybe tens of thousands) of unique items from the 17th century to the present. Everything you've ever associated with Halloween (with some memento mori, Day of the Dead and Harry Potter thrown in for good measure) can be found in her Castle Halloween Museum, including candy containers, costumes (and the materials/equipment used to make them), games, decorations, noisemakers, movie posters, original artwork, food packaging, autographs and much, much more. Our tour took about two hours. In each room, Pamela hit the highlights and left us to only glimpse the rest of her mind-boggling collection. If you are even remotely into Halloween and the traditions surrounding it, this is the museum for you!

Just visited here last weekend -it is amazing! Would probably have to visit at least 10 times to really see everything. A very cool collection of vintage and modern Halloween momentos -from movies, candy, games, TV, plays, you name it. Our hostess, the Halloween Queen, gave us an incredibly detailed tour - she had so many personal connections to the artists and objects that it made them truly come to life! And a note for the faint of heart, this is NOT a scary or gory collection -just straight up fun.

This is exactly what I wanted from a Halloween museum. The collection is huge and varied so there's something for everyone, and Pamela knows a ton about all of her items. It may seem a little cluttered, but it's not disjointed at all. I had a lot of fun and it was really interesting. The collection of hair wreaths in particular was wonderful!

Oh my goodness - this is one of the coolest places we have ever been! We were just looking for things to do and this came up. I’m not big into Halloween but the reviews sounded awesome so we figured we would stop in. I missed the part where you are supposed to schedule a tour. But the owners were gracious and kind and had no problem giving us a tour. I was just amazed. My husband too. They give the history of things and their pieces are so unique and intriguing! My eyes couldn’t take in all the detail of their art pieces!! Hand carved wooden carousel with goblins and other moving detailed hand carved things. We learned so much! Long ago they would make flowers and intricate wreaths from human hair to mourn the loss of a loved one at their funeral and I never knew that. They had many on display. We just could not get enough of this place! Highly recommend it! Sweet people full of knowledge and so many original pieces of history. Just awesome! Might have to make our family and friends come and drive the four hour trip to get there it’s so worth it!!!

There are some really great pieces here but they are buried under all of the other stuff. It’s a beautiful old house jam packed with a Halloween hoard. The owners live on site and seem like nice people but the whole thing seems disjointed.

If you love Halloween. This is the place to visit. Tour can be done in an afternoon. You do have to call ahead and make an appointment to see. I scheduled a tour for when I was going to be in the area. I collect Halloween and there is stuff on the tour that I had never seen before.

Fantastic tour! I never realized how much anthropology and folk studies are so intertwined with the American experience and history of Halloween. I'll definitely be back to learn more.

What is the painting called in the costume room? It’s of a paper man I think.

Do you need reservations and can they be made online
Written October 13, 2017
You should call ahead to schedule a tour. We didn’t know this and had just stopped in and the owners were kind enough to welcome us in anyhow but for sure don’t count on that.
