Living History of Joyful Family times. 1902 Rollercoasters is the oldest operating Rollercoaster in the US - and likely the world. Easy to feel the simple joys of riding a horse to the lake for a family picnic with the highlight being a roller coaster. Nice playground, go cart, historic train. Paddle boats- good prices,

After years of waiting for it to open I finally got to ride Leap The Dips and it was worth the wait. It's a very interesting experience, unlike anything I've ridden. And of course being the oldest coaster adds to the fun. As for the other rides the antique cars are horrible and the go karts are top notch. The train experiences long down times for the engines to cool. I waited well over 30 minutes and gave up. I rode Skyliner years ago and thought it needed a face lift. However last time it was broke down. Lights On The Lake is right up with other drive throughs but the line to get in was long. I liked the indoor train display.

The management does not care that the water park is unsafe. Employee follow the managements lead on disrespect for their customer's safety.
I took my granddaughter there on Saturday. We sat on the side that slopes when you enter the pool. My granddaughter fell shortly after we arrived and I thought it was just her because she was excited, but we were there no more that 15 minutes and I saw others fall. They were of all ages and just simply walking into the water. Alot of them fell completely down on their tail bone in very shallow water, it is only a matter of time will some one gets a spinal or head injury. After my granddaughter received a brush-burn from the 3rd fall we left and I thought I would draw this to their attention. That is when I found out how their employee and Management does not care about the safety of their customers. Ms. Victoria at the pool left me know with very loudly with her body language and tone in her voice that I was a bother and she didn't care. When I asked to speak with the manager the reply was "they left for the day", so I asked her to call the next person in charge and to let me know. Of course Ms. Victoria did not make any calls and when asked if she got in contact with anyone her responce was "they don't want to hear about any more falls from the pool". At that point I asked where the office was. Would you believe that Ms. Selina the manager did not have much of a better attitude. All I wanted to do was to point how dangerous that area was and have them look into doing something so no one got hurt seriously. Ms. Selina did not intertroduce herself and made sure that I felt like I was over reacting by informing me that the pool was just redone this month and was shut down for 4 days because of that and that it was safe. I saw atl east 12 people fall in the 3 hours I was there but don't take my word I am just a grandmother who was sitting there for 3 hours watching my grandaughter and other people. Ms. Selina also informed me that they have not hear of any problems with the pool and sent me over to First Aid to get the incident on record. When I when that the First Aid attentent said that they have had alot of people in because of the pool. I thought this was quite interesting. Obviously management does not look at these reports very closely. I will NEVER go back there again and I HIGHLY recommend that you think twice before you go. DelGrosso Amusement Park is a little more down the road and their swimming area has a padded bottom with steps and no sloping area.

I can't believe that this park passes inspection! The ride operators start the ride and then completely leave the the control booth/area.
Several rides look as though they were built in somebody's basement.
The rides were herky-jerky. I left feeling as though I had whiplash.
The service throughout the park was terrible. Never again!

After reading so many reviews of what a nice little park Lakemont is, my family was really looking forward to visiting this past weekend. My husband's band was booked to play at the Thunder in the Valley motorcycle rally in Johnstown this past Saturday. We decided to make a weekend of it by visiting DelGrosso's Park on Friday and Lakemont Park on Sunday. We have never been to either park before.

DelGrosso's was terrific. We couldn't get my 6 1/2 year old daughter out of there. I would never have believed we could spend an entire day, open to close (10 hours), at that little park, but my daughter managed to do it.

I met quite a few locals (our hotel desk clerk, other visitors to DelGrosso's Park, a couple of families at Logan Mall, etc) over the weekend who told me they wouldn't waste time on Lakemont Park. I was told repeatedly that it pales in comparison to DelGrosso's. We decided to go anyway. We wanted to form our own opinions and not just rule out a park based on other peoples' opinions.

We got there at around 10:45 on Sunday morning. The park was scheduled to open at 11:00. There was one other family there unloading what appeared to be a picnic from their car. The gates were open so we walked right in. We had decided to walk around the park and check things out before purchasing our $10 ride all day pass. That turned out to be a wise decision. The nicest park of the park was the entrance plaza.

We were not impressed, to say the least. Unlike DelGrosso's, which seemed to fit a good many rides into a small compact area, Lakemont seemed to fit a handful of rides into a large spread out area. They didn't look as if they belonged there, but rather as if they had just been plopped down on the first flat spot they came to. The rides themselves, with the exception of the wooden coasters, appeared to be very old carnival rejects. I imagine they must be safe, as I'm sure there are required regulations and inspections... at least I hope there are. They did not LOOK safe. They looked very old and rickety. There was just such a HUGE contrast between DelGrosso's and Lakemont. DelGrosso's had an abundance of flowers, trees and benches, friendly employees, and everything appeared to be very well maintained. Lakemont was the opposite of that, although they did have plenty of picnic tables.

I have to wonder if the photos on their website are even of the actual rides in the park. Or maybe it's just that they were taken many, many years ago when the rides were more attractive. On the website everything appears bright and colorful. In reality everything appeared faded, in need of paint, and just plain old. It actually made us feel sad. It almost looked like an abandoned amusement park. It didn't feel the least bit welcoming.

We could see that repairs had been made to Leap the Dips, because they never bothered to paint them white to match the rest of the coaster. They were just plain wood. It did make it obvious that the ride has been repaired at all, and that's something at least. We didn't check out Skyliner up close because it was set so far back in and out of the way from the main path, and at that point we had already decided we weren't staying. There was no landscaping to speak of around the park. It was partially paved paths, partially gravel paths, and some scraggly grassy areas. There were more picnic tables than rides. The layout wasn't really logical either, again, as if rides were just dropped down and left wherever they landed.

The mini golf wasn't the least bit appealing. It was crammed into a plain area at the front of the park, no landscaping to speak of, though the holes did have the regular mini golf obstacles. It was nothing compared to DelGrosso's nicely landscaped and much newer looking mini golf area.

We never made it over to the water park section, so I can't review that.

We opted to return to DelGrosso's and spent another half day there, happily, before heading home. The two parks are like night and day. Should we ever be in the area again we will definitely plan on spending some time at DelGrosso's. We will not return to Lakemont unless it undergoes some major refurbishment. Now I understand why everyone made that face when I told them we were planning to go there. It's the same face I'd make, now that I've been there, if someone told me they were planning to go there.

I visited the park with my children. There is a real need for updated rides. Most of them are rusted or have a cheap coat of paint slapped on them. Not too mention that there really isn't a lot there to choose from. The operator of the large swing ride didn't measure or care about my sons height. She said that he was big enough to ride it. Once the ride started I watched in horror as my son struggled to stay in the seat. I had her stop the ride and informed her that she needed to adjust her thinking of who is "okay" to ride that ride. The train ride that takes you around a small circle has some areas of the landscape that is in desparate need of maintance. There was trash all over as well as the water smelling of sewer. The park in general is not kept clean. There is trash around the grounds, picinic tables are not kept clean, and some of the food prep areas even look dirty. I am very disappointed in the way that the park as been let go. I expected a lot more, at least a lot cleaner. The roller coasters are not that much better. They look extremely shaky and rusty. The carts barely have enough safety belts, if any, to make you feel safe. The large white coaster does not feel safe at all. The devices in the carts do not do a good job holding you in the cart. As the cart goes over some dips, you are lifted up and feels as if you are going to be thrown from the ride. The food is extremely expensive for the quality and quanity of it. Not to mention that I was able to see one of the booth get the food ready, they made the food on dirty work areas, the food was barely cooked, and the server was very rude. The general attitude of all of the workers in the park is awful. They make you feel as if you are a pain to be there, like they have something better to do and you are just taking up their time. They are too busy taling to other workers and friends then to make you feel comfortable or help you enjoy yourself. I was so upset with the experience that I did complain to a worker and ask to speak to the manager but was told that they all went home for the day and that I could call them later!! Very bad experience and I will have a hard time recommending the park to anyone else!!!

We had a family reunion here. The picnic area was fine but the rides are just in sad need of repair. I have major safety concerns with this park. There is mega rust on the rides at which I was very nervous with my kids riding. I let my 9 year old ride the go cart which caught on fire and started shooting flames out the back. Luckily she was coming around to the pit and they made her get off. Right there I should have put in some form of formal complaint to government authorities or whoever monitors park safety. The rollercoasters are old and rickety and the one you can see the track shifting like its going to sheer or break off! I had to put my foot down with the kids and said no more riding these old rusted up rides. I looked at the bolts and connections which are all rusted and weathered. I am so surprised that this park is not shut down for lack of maintenance!! The owners of this park should be concerned or ashamed that the park is in this condition. Should be completely shut down! Stay away!

What a great park!!! Very affordable, great old rides, no long lines - my kids love it. People who would not like the park (especially the verbose) have personal issues and live life though their children - instead of letting the kids just enjoy themselves.

I started taking my family seven years ago and they always want to go back each year. It's just a fun, old park. If your a person who has been pampered all your life you may be unable to appreciate simple things.

I'll be returning to Lakemont again this summer - you'll be able to spot us easily - we'll be with all the other people who are having a good time! But we're not happiness hogs - get off your dupa and join us !!!

When I was spending some time with family, and our traditions are always to go to del grossos. I had just gotten my period for the first time so I wasn't able to see the waterpark area, but the rides were probably carnival rejects, and the water side, though not been through, didn't look appealing. The food, we got because we were starving, was too costly for the bad economy. I mean, come on, how much money does it take to get some frozen French fries, fry then, and put a small portion on your plate?what a ripoff. I must admit, the fries were delicious. The service was bad. We were watching a family member's little son, and it was a hot day,and no place for shade. He asked for a refill from the tap. Would you believe that the rude lady yelled at him until he just about bursted into tears?!?!? He only knows a few words, and I didn't know that costomers couldn't get a free drink of water from the tap!!!!!!!!!!!! The reviews from the past that are good reviews are wrong. Believe us bad reviews and go to del grossos down the road a bit in tipton. Friendly staff best amusement park food I've ever tasted, shade, amazing rides, free water, 5 stars for delgrosso's 0 stars for here at lakemont park.

I didn't know what I was getting into after reading the discouraging reviews of this park. When my wife and I arrived at the entrance of the park with its brick-patterned walks and running fountains entrance I didn't know if I was at the correct spot or not. i was so far impressed. (Our only disappointment was that our shih tzu pup was not allowed in the park and I'm not sure that "no pets" was mentioned on their web-site or not.)

Our main reason for going to Lakmont Park was to ride Leap-the Dips. Which I did (my wife still being a little timid of roller coasters) and was not disappointed. I met a couple there from Buffalo, NY who were making their 3rd trip on the Dips and planning a fourth.

On my way to the Dips I notice all of the shade trees, benches and flower gardens that someone, in a previous review, mentioned the park being devoid of such spots...not so! I also found the park to be very clean as well.

Skyliner is another good wooden rollercoaster...still a thrill. Similar the Conneaut Lake's Blue Streak or Idora Park's Wild Cat but I believe a littlelonger ride.

I cannot comment of the food or other rides as I did not partake in either but I did find the staff friendly and informative. Yes, the rides are older attractions but were well maintained.

Go back? Why of course and the next time we will take some of our friends.
