Getting gas at Reighard's is like stepping back in time. Not only do you get your gas pumped, but you get your front and rear windows cleaned. Very friendly service there.

In a world where gas stations sell made to order food and pre made food, have shelves of candy and snacks, and have dozens of drinks it's hard to believe this is what gas stations were a 100 years ago. The building consists of two small rooms. One has snacks on a few shelves and sodas in a small fridge. This room was smaller than some people's bedroom. A very helpful worker came out when we saw us wondering at the pumps and took us inside and gave us a history of the building, several cards, a wooden coin, and a flyer. He then gave us a little tour and showed us the old posters and stuff on display. We didn't get gas or any service so I can't rate that.

They pump your gas and clean your windshield and rear window.
They ask if you want your oil checked.
The following questions do not apply as this a gas station with old fashioned service.

I love going to a full-service gas station - it's almost a treat. The employees are very knowledgeable and very kind.

We didn't stop in as we saw it while driving by. I recognized it since I had seen a picture of it when looking at attractions in Altoona. Might be interesting to stop in for a minutes, and buy gas if you need it since it is still in operation.

Unless you are seriously interested in all things cars, I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here. Sure, it’s full service, which is nice, but it seriously looks like any other mom and pop gas station in operation in America right now.

If you are in Altoona, you really need to check this place out. Such a retro gas station experience.
So neat to be a part of history.
We got to explain to our kids about how gas stations used to be.
So glad we stopped there on our way out of town.

Im from NJ, so I don't pump gas anyway (I don't even know how to) so thats not really a draw for me if I were to visit. What else is there to do? Can you get out and get a tour? Whats the attraction?

It's a public gas station. Anyone can get out and walk in the store as a customer. When we were there a worker saw us in the parking lot and showed us around and gave us a history of the building. The attraction is it's the oldest station in America and very different from a mondern station. If I were you I would ask if they'd show you around and tell you the history.
