As a coaster enthusiast, I go to many parks each year. I have a friend who lives less than an hour from Dorney, and I usually get to this park at least once a summer. This year, another friend and I were doing parks in this region. He had been to Dorney in several years, so we made it one of the stops on our vacation.

The park was clean, and most employees were friendly. It was not very crowded this day as most of the patrons there were day care and summer rec kids who arrived on buses. Most spent their time in the water park section. I like that as I am not much of a water park person and prefer to spend time on the coasters and spinning rides.

Dorney has a decent selection of coasters and other rides. Sadly, they were having mechanical issues with many rides the day I was there. Talon broke down early in the afternoon, with a coaster train being stuck at the top of the lift hill. It did not reopen this day. Hydra encountered an issue in mid-afternoon, and it was out for the remainder of the day too. That made longer lines for the other coasters. The other coasters had a couple minor issues too, but they were running more consistently.

I notice that Cedar Fair has reduced Dorney's hours from the usual summer hours of 10 to 10 down to 11 to 9. I understand some of the reasoning behind this as workers can be hard to find. It also saves money, and I would rather see a park remain open with fewer hours than closed.

I would suggest that people go to Dorney on a hot during the week. The mechanical rides will have fewer lines as most will do the water park.

Our family of four just visited Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom with two-day park passes. We didn't want to rush either park so we selected that option. Parking is an additional $25 per day. The first day was great it was a Thursday and we only did the amusement rides that day. The lines were not that long so no horrific wait times. Food was ok not the best but kind of what you expect at places like this. The second day we went over to Wildwater Kingdom. This day was not so great. The lines were much longer, the "family wave pool" only turned on about 3 times the entire day, not as many staff to help on this side. Needless to say that we ended our day early on this side and then changed and finished up on the Dorney Park side since we just enjoyed that much more. We also purchased the unlimited drink refills which on the first day worked out great but then on the second day most of the refill stations were closed and there were no alternatives close to any of the rides so it wasn't really worth it. This isn't the best or the worst but based on our experience I would return and stick to the amusement rides only.

As a native Pittsburgher I spent my childhood going to another family amusement park and worked there during the summers while in college. But alas I married a Scranton boy and we visited Dorney with our 7 and 9 year old daughters on our way to visit his family. We visited on a Thursday in July, shortly before the Grand Carnivale dates started. I think that helped keep the lines short. We did not go in to the water park at all and instead focused on the coasters. Everything was running when we went and they were all great. My 7 year old was not quite tall enough for Talon or Hydra but enjoyed hanging out in Planet Snoopy while Daddy and big sis went on those. We were also able to take advantage of the weekday bundle which included parking and an all day drink wristband. Those came in really handy. I felt like the food choices were pretty limited and pricey. The quality was just OK. Improving the food choices would be my only suggestion. The park was clean and staff was nice. We highly enjoyed our trip there and would not hesitate to go back when we're in the area again.

We took our children there to celebrate the end of school. We even bought season passes so that we could make a few evening visits over the summer. We drove an hour and a half to get there only to discover that they decided to close early. I attempted to speak with guest services, whose response was sorry, there is nothing we can do. When asked why, at first they said it was due to weather (it was overcast but the sun was coming out and I was wearing sunglasses). When I questioned that by pointing out the obvious lack of inclement weather I was told it was because there was not enough people in the park.
In addition to seeing my children broken hearted, I was also mad because of the time and money I spent for no reason. I attempted calling customer service with the hopes of better answers. And again was told, sorry there's nothing we can do. Then, I was put on hold until the representative came back and basically said I was wrong there was bad weather. In a perfect world, some type of compensation would have been appreciated but I would have been content with at least an honest apology.
With absolutely no reassurance of this not continually happening, I requested a refund of my passes. I was told no refunds, there is nothing we can do and good bye.
I can't speak for experiences in the park but the arbitrary closing and apathetic customer service guarantees we will not be continuing with this park.

We purchased admission, parking and drink combo tickets and arrived at 11:00. It was afternoon before we found someone who could tell us how to redeem the drink ticket for a wristband. We stood in line at four places only to be told they ran out of wristbands and it was hot! We had long since finished the one bottle of water we were each allowed to enter with. The rides are very strung out with a lot of walking between them and they were very slow to start the ride after we were loaded. We experienced two arguments among other riders and during one of them we were not allowed off the ride while the people continued to argue. We tried to get on the Scrambler and waited while the operator checked all the seats and we asked if we could board then and were told no. He was on the phone and then started the ride without letting us on. There were only three people on the ride when he ran it. I feel the park is poorly laid out and the employees acted like they didn't want to be there . I was ready to leave very early but the other 8 people with me gave it their best shot at trying to enjoy the day because of the high price of admission. Dorney Park isn't the magical place it used to be and is very overrated and certainly not worth the money because of the slow ride turnover.

My family of four visited Dorney for the first time the last Thursday of July. Weather forecast was a bit shaky, but we had purchased the tickets and had reservations for this specific day for two months, so we took the chance and hoped the forecast would result in shorter lines. We were in luck! We walked on to all the rides, numerous times throughout the day. My son ended up riding Hydra, nine times total.
They had to shut the rides down for approx an hour or so due to storms, heavy rain and a tornado watch, but rides were up and running after the storms past. The park was pretty clean and I thought the flowers around the park were beautiful.
I only have two complaints. Food prices were ridiculous for mediocre food. I expected pricy, but was floored at how much we ended up spending, even with one of having a meal plan. Second is loading times. Had there been been more people that day, the lines would've taken forever. I've been to many parks throughout my 40 years of life, and the dispatch times were desalination dreadfully slow. My 12 year old sat on a ride for almost 10 minutes (kaleidoscope) before the ride actually started.
Other than those couple things, I think the park is wonderful. My kids loved it there and are asking to go back.

We had a horrible experience several years ago in Dorney Park. I went with my 5 children and we were having a fun time. My 6 year old by mistake dropped something over the gate on one of the rides. I asked the person in charge of the ride to allow me to get the item in between rides. She refused to allow me. My 6 year old, on his own, slipped over the gate and got the item. The ride was not active at the time. We left the area but were followed by security who basically threw my 6 year old out of the park and banned him from returning. Naturally I had to leave too. I begged them not to throw us out. I had 5 young children in the park. How can you throw out a 6 year old and by that action throw out his mother too when there are young children in the park? It was a horror. I called the next day. Spoke to a manager. I had spent $300 and travelled several hours. What a waste. I called my councilman who was appalled but got no help there. It was a horrible experience. My 6 year old was traumatized. He had to wait outside the park for hours while his siblings were inside. They were traumatized not knowing where I was. They messed up

How do you run out of food, soda and Ice? It's ridiculous!! Most of the People working there are ignorant. Restrooms are gross. When to get changed in the bathhouse and there were dirty feminine napkins in there. Can you say GROSS!!!!!!
If you are extra fluffy don't bother going because you won't be able to do anything but watch everyone else have fun. Oh yeah, when we could get refills for our refillable cups that we paid $15.99 each for 6 of them mind you...the soda was flat. Straight up disgusting. We won't be back.

Went to Dorney Park/Wildwater Kingdom on a trip with my child's summer camp. I hadn't been there in many years, since I was a child. A lot of my comparisons were to Hershey Park, because we were there last month. I appreciated that many of the rides had a 46" height limit and my daughter could ride without me (I'm not a ride person). Most rides at Hershey had a 48" limit to ride without parent - even kiddie rides. It was frustrating. Dorney Park, the dry amusement side, really surprised me in terms of cleanliness and ease of use. Wildwater Kingdom, on the other hand, was disgusting. First of all, someone was actively smoking weed in the changing room while we were getting in our bathing suits. I couldn't find a map to orient us and the map on the app is terrible, so we wasted a lot of time trying to figure out how to get around. The changing area/lockers are at the entrance to the waterpark (instead of centrally located), so if you need to get something from your locker, you have to walk pretty far. Most rides look old and in need of upgrade, except for the green & yellow children's section. The worst though, was the roughhousing by teens in the wave pool. We were constantly getting kicked or run into by other people. And couples being really sexual/inappropriate, making out and basically humping each other. Also, people going into the pool with food and drinks. Is that really allowed? Because there was a lot of this, and I didn't see anyone stopping it. Pro tip for parents, there are two wave pools - the one at the entrance seemed to be more appropriate for children. None of the trashy stuff I saw on display at the larger wave pool. I wish there was something to denote "adult wave pool" vs. "family wave pool" because I wouldn't have wasted our time there if I knew the wave pool by the entrance was more child friendly.

You must order on-line waterpark reservations. I thought this was due to a lifeguard shortage which closed some of the WWK attractions and the park wanted to limit the number of guests in the waterpark. However, no DP employees were checking to make sure each guest entering WWK had a reservation. They let everybody in the park. As a result the park was EXTREMELY overcrowded. Lines moved extremely slowly. For many of the long lines you had to stand in full sun with your feet burning on the pavement or stairs. One wave pool and one lazy river was closed down so the open wave pool was extremely crowded. I never felt like I cooled off in the heat since too much of the time in the waterpark was spent standing in line. I never want to visit here again. I was hoping to find relief from the heat by cooling off at WWK but all I got was standing in long lines with a bunch of other miserable people.
