About
Their telephone number is: (541) 552 – 0202 A lovely Japanese-style bathhouse with massage, tea room, and even cottages. It is listed in your specialty lodging, but the bath house is truly an attraction, particularly if people are visiting Ashland and have some time between Shakespeare performances, etc.

Amazing place! Chozu Bath & Tea Gardens is beautifully curated. If only the staff would actually enforce their own rules. Number twelve of their rules reads, "Please be considerate of your surroundings by speaking softly and being mindful that you are sharing the space with others." Sounds good on paper, but last night, this was definitely not our experience! There was a group of six loud and obnoxious men who nearly ruined our time there. The worst part is we were actually warned about this group of men by the management/owner: Chozu Bath & Tea Gardens is failing in leadership and lacks integrity. Why would you allow quests to return who obviously, and apparently repeatedly, do not respect the code of conduct? Personally, I will never return to this business, and I do not recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet, peaceful bath experience.

Chozu is wonderful for it's tranquility and wonderful soaking tubs, some hot, some cold and a wonderul dry sauna. There is also a steam bath in the locker rooms that will bring on a sweat in a matter of minutes. Chozu knows how to give you the little extra touches; salt for scrubbing post soaking, there is lotion, wonderful shampoo/conditioner/hair dryer and they give you these soaking towels that you can cover up with and soak - or your bathing suit as you prefer, some just use the towels for out of the water. There are some really nice touches throughout the japanese garden spa, lots of bamboo, textured planters, rocks and just a wonderful spiritual feel. My friend took me there for my 60th birthday and we just spent the afternoon "soaking". The cost was 25$ for a few hours of soaking and well worth it, very relaxing. Things to bring; water bottle for refilling and they have water available in the garden, sandals if you are not a barefoot type person and any other post soak toiletries; but know they supply sandals, towel, soaking robe and even water cup if you need them. Great way to spend a few hours!

The rooms were clean enough, but did not have Wi-Fi as promised, which was quite crucial for us at the time! The SPA facilities were clean enough, but the saunas were too cold and did not comply with average standards, which for that price is definitely a rip-off as you can get a much better standard in Ashland for at least half the price! The restaurant did not have the all the meals listed on the menu, which was also a let down. Moreover, the lawn outside of the facilities is sprayed with Roundup weed killer, a very poisonous & dangerous substance! The staff were not helpful & our complaints were completely ignored later by the owner. It seems that she just wants to milk the maximum amount of money from the customers without providing basic facilities.

The room is comfortable and spacious and should be a good value as it includes access to the spa facilities. Unfortunately our experience was marred by some bizarre interactions with the staff which downgraded the rating since the amenities are the #1 selling point of this business.

The staff didn't seem to know what to do when checking us in to use the spa facilities. We were both given slippers and a robe but no wrap or towel. Wraps are required to use the public areas of the spa during the day. My husband went back and got towels, but since we upgraded to a private pool I didn't bother to get a wrap - although if I'd had one I would have been able to use the co-ed sauna as well as the steam room which would have been nice. Not too big a deal, just inattentive service.

But this is the most bizarre part that was the deal-breaker. In the private pool we couldn't figure out how to make the jets work. Pushing the button per the instructions didn't do anything - so I went back to the lobby to ask about it. There the staff person told me not to touch the button! She animatedly explained that that was why it had a transparent plastic box over it (that easily lifted up?) so we wouldn't touch it! Turns out the jets no longer work in the private tubs. She did concede that they should probably put a sign up. I didn't say anything, but yeah, you should put a sign up so I'm not wasting my time getting scolded in the lobby when I should be soaking.

I went back to the tub and decided to let it go so I could relax and enjoy my soak...but just a bit later there was a knock and it was this same staff person who asked to come in. We said "okay," and she then stood there in the door way telling us that we should make sure the button was where it was when we arrive (I had no idea but my husband assured her it was). Then she went on for another three or four minutes having a conversation about the plumbing.

Keep in mind this is a spa where you go to relax and unwind and we were in a private tub without a stitch on, yet she felt this was the appropriate space to lay out excuses about their equipment. When she left I turned to my husband and said "I have no idea what the hell that was about."

I have been to Chozu before for a massage and soak and loved it - but after this I don't think we'll be returning.

My husband surprised me on our 19th anniversary with a couples massage package at Chozu. We have been here before, as we are locals, and it's a beautiful, restful spot in a quiet part of town. With the package, we had a light lunch of Japanese food in a sweet little dining area with a perfect pot of Jasmine tea. They also offer several saki inspired libations. We had an hour in their private soaking pool where we were able to go in nude. There is also a more 'public' pool and cover ups are provided. After the soak we had massages in separate rooms with very competent masseuses then finished up in the sauna. We could have had steam baths, too, but by this time I was a wet noodle and didn't need any more relaxing. The whole experience was wonderful and rejuvenating. You can get a massage at various places in Ashland, but you won't find an experience like this. It's a gift to yourself you will reflect on and want to repeat - as we did.Gratuity is included but we left a little more.

Among the best, most esthetic, most charming bath houses my wife and I have visited (and we have seen plenty).

Unbelievable, oasis. Transformative. A hidden retreat, a quiet monastery of joy and tranquility. From the steam room to the plunge pool to the hot bath, coupled with the hot tea. To the sauna, back to the cold pool, into the hot pool. Meditate.

Feel the stillness, lost in subtle music and beautiful Japanese inspired, modern surroundings. Gratified by the warm service and help. A $25 ticket to a different dimension, deeply worthy.

The experience is entirely brought by us as the patrons. If the patron has peace to find, lots of peace can be found here. They can't force it on you. Top off with small plates, beautifully presented in a comfortable seating area. Such joy.

In a residential area, bordering a park, surrounded by greenery. Well designed. Locker keys provided with a piece of collateral. Tea can be served by the pool. Reasonably priced small plates served with tea in the small, modern tea room.

My husband took me to Ashland for my 50th birthday in April. On my actual birthday he took me to Chozu Spa. We had booked appointments to each get a massage. We arrived early so we could enjoy the outdoor pools. The property is small but they have artfully tucked the changing rooms/showers amongst the gardens and outdoor pools. The whole experience was very relaxing and peaceful. Prior to our treatments someone notified us to get ready so we didn't have to worry about the time. My husband had a Deep Tissue Massage and I had a Swedish Massage with a 30 minute Red Flower Treatment add on. My husband enjoyed his treatment and my treatment was spectacular. I have had some spa treatments at a few famous spas on Maui and none of them could compare in my mind to the massage and Red Flower Treatment I received at Chozu! After our treatments we enjoyed tea and Sake in their Japanese Tea Room. It was a perfect way to spend the day! Thank you Chozu!
