In addition to wonderful theater when we come to Ashland for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, we always spend some time in the Applegate Valley doing some wine tasting. On our most recent trip (April, 2013) we tried the reasonably new-opened Dana Campbell Vineyards, less than 5 minutes from downtown Ashland. Their wines are very, very good. As a red wine fan, I enjoyed the Malbec and the Vionillo (a blend of Viognier and Tempranillo). My wife, the white wine drinker in the family thoroughly enjoyed the Viognier. And we both enjoyed the scrumptious meatball snack we had along with the tasting. And, if you want views with your wine and snacks, you will definitely not be disappointed. The huge windows allow an unobstructed view of downtown Ashland. It's a wonderful setting, and it appears the owners, Patrick and Paula, have themselves a winner.

We visited this winery on our first day in Oregon. While we saw other wineries in the area, we kept finding that we compared them all to this one. The atmosphere was relaxing. The wine & food was tasty. And, the views were fantastic. The staff was also very friendly.

sweeping panoramic view of the valley and beautiful deck. Excellent service. Delicious sauvignon Blanc. The rest were disappointing but may appeal to lovers of very dry wines.

We stopped by on our way back to the Bay Area with our 30 pound dog and were rather abruptly told dogs were not welcome on the property. Not inside and not outside. No reason given. We won't be back with or without our dog.

My wife and I have watched the development of this wonderful place for a couple of years. We were allowed to place Western Bluebird nesting boxes around the perimeter of the vineyard which we monitor frequently as part of a pest control program . It has been refreshing to see how dedicated and hardworking Pat and Paula are in their effort to make this a first class winery. And the wines are the reward. We entertain frequently, and have learned that the best wines on the table go first, leaving the losers behind. The Dana Campbell bottles are always the first to be emptied. The new tasting room is perfect, from the cozy fireplace to the stunning view of Ashland and the mountains behind. If you are looking for a venue for a celebration, you won't find a better one.

We visited last week (early June). It was unusually hot (97 degrees). It is a beautiful setting in the hills overlooking the city of Ashland. We had the standard tasting. The reds, like all of the reds we tasted in Southern Oregon, were unremarkable and quite thin. However, we did love a 2013 Viognier and ordered a case to be shipped home. (only $20 shipping to Southern California). We tasted at 10+ viogniers in the Rogue Valley AVA, and this was the best! Notwithstanding the heat, we decided to sit on the patio and drink some viognier and have a nice plate of cheese. I recommend a stop here. It is close to Ashland and a nice place to be. BTW- the staff was terrific!

Nice wine too. Very good appetizer plates. Seriously, there is no finer place to view Ashland and our valley than at Dana Campbell's Vinery. The owners are usually there and just supre great folks. I can't recommend it any higher than 5 stars or I would.

We wanted to go to a winery after our hike to Grizzly Peak, my husband found this winery on Yelp. The location is lovely, the staff wonderful and the wine delightful (especially the Viognier). We also had a cheese torta with Gorgonzola, pears and cranberries. Amazing.
