Went on Sat., 11/14 with girlfriends. We arrived at about 5:15 and were seated right away even though we didn’t have reservations. The hostess gave us food and drink menus and instructed us to go up to the bar when we were ready to order our food and drinks. Drinks are not served, instead you order at the bar and take your drink back to your table (yes, this is in the dining room). I’m not sure if this was because of Covid-19 or if this was simply the way they run things.

Initial food items were brought to our table without silverware. Some of us had dinner, others just appetizers. Everyone enjoyed their food; my friend said the salmon was “delicious” (she wasn’t asked how she wanted it cooked but that didn’t matter to her). I had the premium wine flight which was recommended after I indicated that I don’t care for sweet wine. I enjoyed four of the six wines; two of the red wines tasted like they had gone bad. I love Cabernets and Merlots so this was disappointing.

None of the staff stopped at our table to make sure everything was satisfactory which gave me the impression they didn’t care. There was no “service” aside from a nice gal that refilled water and someone else that cleared our plates.

The dining area is bright, spacious and nicely decorated. We took a quick stroll at the end of our visit to look at the grounds. It was beautiful.

I haven’t been to ThornCreek for 2-3 years. After the renovation it seems more “restaurant” and less “winery” but perhaps there is an area that I didn’t see that was set up for non-diners. Based on the lack of service/followup in addition to their recent email indicating “reservations only” I sense a vibe of “you’re lucky to come here, if you don’t like it you can go elsewhere”.

We had an amazing time with great food and wine at this most beautiful winery. We tried several red wines that were excellent . The flatbreads were wonderful too.

First this is a very beautiful winery. Inside and out. Went during the winter and look forward to going back in the summer. Found the prices for food a little on the high side considering they are mostly sharing plates. Had the Duck meatballs which were very good but at the price they charged I could have had a full meal at other wineries. Also know that the menu is limited with small plates and a couple desert items. One item that needs some improvement is the night we went the weather was bad and they only had valet parking and the poor person working by himself was overwhelmed. He had cars backed up sitting on the entrance drive. They need to either give you the option of parking yourself or help this individual with some extra staff. Over all I will give this place another try but it will be in better weather. Loved the entertainment they had that night can;t wait to sit outside and enjoy that.

Met up with friends for a night out. We called ahead since we were a large group and had a table waiting for us. When we were seated we were told that their staff was very thin and it would be a wait for food. After waiting 45 minutes, our server arrived to our table but didn't have a wine list (they ran out) to give us and only had two menus for us to share between the 8 of us. It took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive and only then would they take our order since the kitchen was getting 'slammed'. After waiting another 45 minutes for our food, our server returned without food but to tell us that they were out of the special chicken flat bread, salmon, lasagna, and olives. And that we had to all place new orders. The menu is very limited as it is so there wasn't much to choose from at this point... The meatball sub was our only choice of entree after sitting there for almost 2 hours. We all passed on changing our choices since we weren't sure it would arrive. We left 2 and a half hours later with a $50 bill for bread and 2 glasses of wine.
It was such a disaster of a night that I won't return. The manager came during our meal to explain the delay but never apologized or offered anything to us in return. A bottle of wine while we waited would of been nice or a bread basket. There was no attempt to make it right. Very poor customer service.
As far as what I was able to try, Pinot grigio was served at room temperature and the Cabernet was served cold. The bread and olive oil was flavorful but anything would of tasted good after waiting for 2 and a half hours. Never again.

My experience so far as a wedding coordinator is not a good one. I have a young lady whose mom recently died in April of 2017 and is due to be married on June 2018. She paid the extremely high amount for the tent rental with being told she could only choose from one of their preferred caterers. So she and I sat down and chose what we thought was the least expensive out of the three. After selecting the caterer they sent my client an itemized list of what everything would cost totaling over $7,000, way more than what she can afford at this time. She reached out to the venue 2 days after giving them $2500 and they told her "NO REFUNDS" so she decided she'd do the ceremony only and do a reception at a different location. When I went to discuss this matter with their on staff coordinator she was very short and seemed bothered. They have yet to return my client's calls or emails. At this point we are being totally ignored. Very unprofessional place. My poor bride has been in tears for days now. She's still carrying the weight of the death of her mother and now the possibility of having lost $2500 of irreplaceable money. In all my years as a coordinator this is the first I've seen of this magnitude of heartlessness. The wedding is on a Friday, there is no reason why after two days she should not have received a full refund when her wedding is 6mths away. I would not refer this place to anyone. The communication is poor and the interaction is not welcoming at all.

Our first visit. Gorgeous grounds show off owner's landscaping design expertise. Winery/restaurant concept is a poorly executed afterthought. Ordered wine flight to try a representative sampling of their wines. With the exception of a passable Riesling, none of the wines were at all drinkable. Oxidized Cab, sour Merlot, ghastly sweet "cream red" (think Manischewitz), bland Pinot Grigio, lightly fruited and not-too-sweet Riesling and another ghastly sweet "cream white." Cheese board had a smattering of grocery store cheeses and about 7 crackers. Waiter couldn't tell us what the different cheeses were. Only food offering was "sliders" which were good, but took a long time to arrive. Only three plates showed up, leaving our fourth diner waiting an additional length of time for his. Wait staff friendly but not at all knowledgable about food or wine. Service extremely slow and disorganized. We will give them a second chance because the setting is so inviting, but we'll order bottled beer and skip the port-wine spread on Ritz.

Pretty disappointed. Drove 2 hours to find the winery was closed. When I reviewed the front page of the website it said "Open today" and gave the hours. When I walked in I was told it was closed for a "special event". The woman said if you looked under "events" you would have seen it. I wouldn't think I would have to go through the entire website to see such important info as the hours of operation when the front page said "open". Maybe they should communicate a little better?

The space has some unique features but the aesthetic isn't consistent and could use some major updates. Looks a bit like a craft store project. I'm sure the gardens are lovely in the spring. That aside, the wine is overpriced given the quality. We purchased a bottle after having a few samples. The bottle tasted nothing like the sample we tried.

Newer to the area, we heard good things about the menu and wanted to check it out. The menu was was not the same or hadn't been updated online, and we were pretty unimpressed. The dishes lacked flavor and were a little confusing. Maybe we should have steered clear of the entrees and stuck with the small plates.

Service wasn't bad but overall the ambience food and wine were not worth the premium prices. We will most likely not be 'sharing the experience'.

We wanted to try ThornCreek Winery out before going to a movie. Went at 5:30 pm on a Friday night and really enjoyed the food, wine, decorations and our waitress, Debbie, was so helpful. Their food is for sharing and is served on slate. We started with a cheese plate that was delicious and then the special was a combined crab/cod/mashed potato that was to die for. We took our time then realized that they had a guitar player coming at 7 pm. So we stayed for that instead of going to the movie and really enjoyed ourselves.

When our kids came into town we took them to try it out, too, and they loved it. It was beautifully decorated with rustic pieces, lanterns, branches, etc and has a lovely fireplace. This time we ordered two flights of wines, cheese platter, stuffed acorn squash, salmon. Everything was fabulous. My son suggested that we have his fiancés bridal shower there. I'm hoping we can have it in August and take advantage of their beautiful outdoor gardens. I've already left a message to inquire about the details.

We attended a neighborhood New Year's party and I raved about ThornCreek Winery. Found out several other neighbors also consider it their top restaurant destination. Just call before you go to make sure it is not closed for a special event. Enjoy!
